hi all

Need some advice from Casino at Sea clients..

since it is the weekend..can't contact CAS till Monday..and want to be prepared for "negotiations"---

I am booked for 10/25 Bermuda out of NYC..booked last year..and have $150 OBC from various promotions..

Just found out my daughter is due with 1st grandchild week before!!!!:D So will need to change my booking...

I am willing to move cruise up to this spring or even to next year..or even change to another itinerary out of NYC...and hoping to maintain similar rate and my OBC.

(in my favor..is that I can be very flexible)..

has onyone ever had success with this... any and all help much appreciated...

TIA

On board credits are normally tied to the reservation number. As long as that stays the same, the OBC normally stays with it. The rate is a different matter. The rate you'll get is what you would get for booking the cruise regardless of the existing booking.

Congrats.. I just read that a pax was able to beg, plead, and almost borrow for their OBC. They got a supervisor on the phone who agreed to allowing them to keep what they'd earned in previous promotions. Hope that encourages you.

If you don't get to keep it, think like my husband does.. it wasn't money we had.. it was free money. ;)

Silly man. :D

thanks...I need some encouragement..! I had to "fight" for that OBC...back in October...and it would be a shame to loose it...it covers most of the tips..!

I think when I call tomorrow..I will ask for Ron--he seems to be the one at CAS who takes time to go over stuff...(according to all you experts here!)--(and I think with CAS-there is no supervisor per se....just the 3 agents.....)

don't know about CAS. but we had a suite booked for 3/2010 with a Latitudes discount and $500 OBC. Had to reschedule because my niece is getting married the same week, and we lost our OBC . We ended up with $150 based on the promotion in effect now. Disappointing, but can't miss my niece's wedding.;)

Hope this helps.

I am booked thru CAS and called to change just my cabin and lost the OBC credit. They gave me the current OBC promo which was less than my original amount. I was really suprised by this since I did not change my sail date. I would wait till there is another good promotion to make your change, they will only offer you what the new promo is on the day you make the change. They told me any changes, you lose what you had and get whatever the new promo is. Hope this helps.

Yep.. happened to us too.. we wanted to upgrade to a specific cabin for the same cruise. Lost $200 OBC, gained $50. Also, had to pay $100 for upgrade. We really wanted the upgraded cabin so we were willing to pay the cost.

However, in reading some other postings that NOW you can use an upgrade certificate with a cruise certificate for the same cruise, AND that some pax have been successful in keeping their OBC even though the promotion was over, I've asked my TA to look into those things today. Hopefully I'll find out something soon. I'll post here when I do.

Ultimately, it would mean the gain of our original OBC of $200 (I don't care if we lose the $50 OBC we received when we changed) and we'd get a $50 refund towards the upgrade cost for the cabin.

I have no delusions that any of this will happen, but it's worth a shot. I'll still be happy with what we have now. Wish me/my TA luck! :D

It was a no-go on both issues. But the NCL supervisor did tell my TA that you can indeed use your upgrade certificates with your cruise certificates... from now on.

So you folks out there that got to keep your OBC from previous promotions after making a change to your ressie, I say this to you in my best Napoleon Dynamite imitation... LUCKY! :p

sorry it did not work out for you:(

I did not call CAS today....thinking I had better wait for some BIG sale so I can try to minimize my possible losses--but maybe I should call this week..just to see what is available...

All my invoices match both reservation number and booking date. IMO, if you get to keep a previous earned OBC It's because you got the right person on the phone.

Thanks jaja ~ It doesn't matter when you call. Since the promotion you received is gone now anyway, I agree with LEAP to wait until a better promotion to come along, especially since you're so flexible on when you do take your cruise.

I'm not part of CAS, so I don't know if they have a cancellation fee or not, but I know NCL doesn't if you're before final payment. If you booked a suite higher than a mini-suite, you will lose your deposit regardless. Hopefully that's not the case.

I did call last week..and they said no cancellation fee...and cruise is not till 10/25..so have time....

and we are booked in interior...so no problem there..

just that I noticed that earlier Bermuda cruises are much more expensive...but if I can move it up--then I will.....

thanks

update--I think I will be forgetting about Bermuda..for the new cruise...(since Oct. 2010 sailings are still unposted and spring and summer ones kind of high)

I am now looking at switching to the Dawn New England cruise 9/6/09--price is better(than Bermuda right now) and there are 2 ports we have not been to.(we did Carnival NE/Canada)..PLUS--early enough so we can be here for DD....

of course I will still loose OBC...but not much I can do about that!

Going to call CAS tomorrow and see how much it will be.....
