Pre-boarding question

Recommended Posts

We have three cabins booked on the Mariner next year. One cabin is the RS, the people in that are not C&A members. Another cabin is an oceanview with C&A members who ahve taken one cruise prior. The third cabin is in insude with no C&A members in it (the kids of the people in the oceanview cabin).

Can we all pre-board together?

Suite passengers get priority boarding as well, regardless of C&A status. My experience is that only qualifying suite and C&A (diamond and platnium) passengers will be allowed priority boarding so the group in the RS will be able to but the other folks will most likely have to stand in line.

We are Diamond members also. We've actually gone into the C&A line and had our friends with us and nothing was said. But to warn you: last year - December 8th when we went on the Mariner, we went into the Diamond area and the representative sent our sister down to the Deck 6 area to check in. Guess what? She and her boyfriend got on board 30 minutes before we did!!!!!! What a great privilege it was to be a C&A member! Unfortunately this has happened to us about 50 percent of the time. C&A or regular line? C&A or regular line? I guess the best bet is to see how long each of the lines are!

I wouldn't worry about this so much, as our parents mostly in the past were able to board in their "special" line, as they always book a suite and we are in balcony cabins, so went through the regular line...and 9 out of 10 times, we were finished checking in before them. So no worry, you can all either get in the main line together or just split up and wait on one another.

We just got off the explorer and this is how it happend.

If you were in a wedding party you were able to board first. Only if the wedding was that day.

Nexticon_biggrin.gifiamond and higher were able to board.

after that first come first serve. Suites do not have priority over anyone. I had heard the same thing. There are however seperate lines for suites when you get into the actual area to check in.

We got to the Mariner about 11AM, and were aboard by 11:30. Without any special help. icon_cool.gif

What do you mean by pre board? We got to the dock at 1030 and were on board by 1130. They did not let anyone on until 1100am. We had alot of weddings on our ship last week. In my last post I should have stated that the first part was going through security. That didn't take anytime. As long as you have everything ready once you get to the counter check in is a breeze. Our room wasn't even ready yet by the time we got in. People were still getting off the boat at 11 when we were getting on. Don't let things upset you. We had such a wonderful time on the explorer and I had heard tons of bad things about this wonderful ship. Anytime something goes wrong just smile and say, "How lucky am I to be on a cruise!" We had the best service from begining to end.

Lisa, The way I understood it, as guests in the Royal Suite, we would have a seperate check-in line. Then we would have a private waiting lounge to relax in before boarding. When they were ready to begin boarding, we would be escorted onto the ship right away without waiting in any lines, and taken to meet with the concierge staff.

It might seem trivial to some, but I'm spending quite a bit to stay in that suite, and for that expenditure am expecting a certain level of service and perks, and not waiting in lines is one of them.

If I've bene misled on this, or misunderstood, I might want to begin to rethink this entire thing.

sorry for above post..priorty check in is not the same as priority boarding....suite guests get priority check in, and will not have to wait in the normalcheck in lines. There is a separate counter for suite passengers and as some have stated, that line can move slower than the regular lines. As far as a special lounge for you to relax in, at Port Canaveral, suite passengers were just gathered into a group of the chairs that are there for anyone to sit down in. There is a concierge lounge onboard you will have access to. Once they start letting folks board, weddings go on first, then qualifying C&A members, then everyone else, first come first serve. At least that is how it was done at Pt. Canaveral last fall. Suite passengers do get priority tags to leave the ship once you return, but it's not too difficult for others to get those tags too. Sorry, but staying in any suite is not going to alleviate standing in some sort of line at some point during the week.

That is how it went with ours aqusis. We got the white tags which you are able to debark first. We were off the ship at 710am. It sucked though since our flight was not until 340pm. We were able to get to the airport and change it to an earlier flight. Thank heaven for that. We may have been off the ship at 710 but did not see our luggage until 8 or so. There were alot of people getting off at that time. Don't be upset with RCL. You may possbily have that luxary of boarding in a seperate line. I don't know about the Royal Suites but I know that everyone that had a JS on up had a seperate line.
