Summit 1-16

I have never sailed on Celebrity before, but have been offered a really good rate for single occupancy on the 1-16 sailing on the Summit. I am a 41 year old divorced male. I enjoy an active casino & it wouldn't break my heart for there to be some population of singles in my age group. Any opinions on fidning this on a typical Celebrity sailing?

Dude, I think you should bring a friend, at 41, you could kick everyone's a$$ on a Celebrity cruise!

Yeah Johnny.....also heard about that fantastic deal! It is very rare for Celebrity to have a single occupancy sale......the Summit NEVER has one! I already have all my info to my agent so she can book it as soon as it goes into effect on Thursday!

 

But, as I am sure you have heard, since Celebrity often charges a premium rate, the crowd tends to be more senior. That said, with this great rate, it may bring down the average age! ;)

I don't think you'll have too bad a chance, especially on a 7-day sailing. Though Celebrity's crowd may be on average older than Royal Caribbean or Princess, it is still younger than some of the other premium lines like Holland America, Crystal, etc. And the shorter the cruise, the younger the age gets (in general, the longer cruises are more often enjoyed by those who are retired and are free to take the extended trips).

 

I got off the Summit 10-day cruise a few weeks ago, and found the crowd to be very mixed and very satisfactory with plenty of people within my age group too (I am 36). There were very few kids and not too many teens...which I won't complain about. I met several single women ranging from mid-20s to upper 40s, and saw others onboard too. And there were friends I met on board who were in their upper 30s who were couples.

 

At 7 days, you should have an even better chance of meeting some singles in your age bracket.

 

My personal experience was that I met more people and talked to more social friendly people on board the Summit than I did on any past cruise. Royal Caribbean and Princess may have had more people my age, but on recent cruises they seemed less social and virtually all couples not interested in meeting others. The folks on Celebrity, of all ages, were very social, and from a diverse palette of countries; and several of the single women I met or saw onboard were young and attractive.
