emmysmommy Posted April 7, 2009 #231 Share Posted April 7, 2009 I'm finding out the hard way that vacations and weight loss don't go together!!! I went camping for 3 days and did ok since I kept all of my serving portions small. I also found time to go on a few walks and to run 3 miles one day. However, I was home for 1 day (weighed myself and didn't gain but about a 1/2 pound) and then was off to Solvang for 3 days. It wouldn't be the same without having a danish or two (and yes, I've already had one.) I'm hoping that between all the walking my net result won't be too bad. I'll see on Wednesday when we get home. Errrr... it's so frustrating that I can be so good at times but then lose all self control in an instant. As Scarlett said, "tomorrow is another day." Take care, Brenda

I did nothing yesterday to gain 2 pounds but I know it is weird that way. Marsha Marsha: I can relate! At least you are keeping at it! Good job. I get so frustrated when I've been soooo good and weigh myself and find that I've gained a pound or two!!! What's up with that?? I weigh myself daily too.... if I look at my results over the week-long period it evens out but I want to know and see the results every day, even if it is a spike!!!! :D (I seriously don't want to get on the scale within a week of coming back from this mini-vacation in Solvang, CA. vdarrell Posted April 7, 2009 #235 Share Posted April 7, 2009 Our weigh ins are looking good :) Dominigue.......sorry you had to spend time in the ER hope you are feeling better today and that everything gets straightened out. I have digital scales and love them, hope you find a scale that works. Marsha......hope you are enjoying your ME time. Brenda......vacations can be rough when watching our eating but just remember you can get back on track and you didn't do that bad. Now I have to pray that my temptation demon doesn't show his little self tonight  my DS's and DH are treating me out for my Birthday tonight. The girls and my patients at work treated me out to lunch so I already gave in a little today. Glad I worked out this morning and burnt some extra calories off.:D Here's hoping I come home tonight and read more great weigh in results.:)
sillysailor 1955 Posted April 7, 2009 #236 Share Posted April 7, 2009 This is what I love about Cruise Critic:o - I too have to lose before my cruise in July (Alaska on Diamond Princess) - the hubby and I are dying to take the helicopter excursion to the glacier, but we are both dangerously close to the 250 lb. mark - we did a cruise in November (Mediterrean) and I remember how miserable I was (clothes that were too tight, etc etc. - but have I lost anything? - NO:mad: I am a repeater on WW but just can't seem to get it together this time around. I have rheumatoid arthritis and the weight is also killing my mobility.. I am going to give it another try this week! Please girls wish me luck!!! missou Posted April 7, 2009 #238 Share Posted April 7, 2009 Sillysailor, loosing weight will help you so much deal with the pain that comes with the arthritis. Have you ever tried a good massage? Is it bearable? Are you able to do some exercice program in the water. Dieting is good, but you need to move to help with the weight loss. Good luck ;) Marsha, your weight is going down, don't give up, you will make it. Brenda, sometimes, it is not wise to go on the scale every day, it could discourage you ;) Don't worry to much, you will make it!!! Happy birthday Vickey and let yourself be spoiled for once. You are doing a pretty good job so far!!!;) Thanks Vickey for your good wishes. The pain is still there and I am pretty tired of it  I left a message for my GP and we will talk about it tomorrow. She wants me to see 2 specialists. Maybe, she will arrange things so I can see them earlier. I have an electronic scale and now that it is broken, I will get myself a new one. I really appreciate seeing that I have lost 0.2 or 0.3 pounds. It is encouraging.
missou Posted April 7, 2009 #239 Share Posted April 7, 2009 I just spoke with a lady that organises health tourism in Cuba, Costa Rica and Canada about some jaw work that I need. It would cost me a lot to have it done here in Canada. I want to know how much it would be in Costa Rica. I know the price would be very good, but I want to know how good. Who knows, maybe I'll be going in Costa Rica soon :D:cool:
riddle Posted April 8, 2009 #240 Share Posted April 8, 2009 Evening everyone!. To those of you who are a bit discouraged don't be. Remember nothing good comes without a lot of effort. Keep trying. Vickey - happy birthday - you deserve a bit of a celebration. Do not feel guilty. Time with family and friends is precious. Missou - I hope the best for you with the pain. Having been a long-time arthritis sufferer I know somewhat what you are going through. I know my weight loss will help my knee that has not been replaced. I just need to get the time off work to get it replaced too. I am just so afraid with the way things are in the workplace right now to take anymore time off. Had dinner tonight with DD at Red Lobster. She has 4 days of law school left!!! She has exams, 2 months of bar prep and then hopefully she will pass and be a lawyer. I am so proud of her. I passed on the rolls, had grilled white fish, a plain baked potato and a salad. I did have 1 glass of white wine. DH is out of town again. Dear dogs are a muddy mess. It is so cold here again I wish it would freeze or stop raining. Everyone have a good evening. Welcome to everyone who has just joined us. Vickey thanks so much for keeping the weight tabs. I know it is a job and a commitment. Marsha
emmysmommy Posted April 8, 2009 #241 Share Posted April 8, 2009 I'm so grateful for this board and especially this thread. You all are so encouraging!!! I'm glad I can stay connected and motivated even while on vacation. :p We leave today to go back home and back to my "program"....Although I have not been eating the best I have walked a lot - on average a few miles a day since we leave our car at the hotel and walk around town. Even for dinner last night we walked and left the car behind. I have to believe that every little bit helps. Here's something I've been thinking about...I've heard that if you are having a craving - satisfy it with a little something of what you desire. If you are craving a donut, have one. One donut will not make you gain a pound. (I'm sure that 1 donut + 3 cookies + another donut can't be good.) Next week I'll provide my stats so I'll know where I'm at and still keep at it. Have a great day ladies. Brenda
brnsnbrws Posted April 8, 2009 #242 Share Posted April 8, 2009 Last night was my first water aerobics class. Boy did I get a shock! I hate exercise and have a problem hip so I thought this would be a very easy class, WRONG! She worked us from the time we hit the pool until we got out, 1hr15min. It was an effort to walk to the locker room, get dressed, then go to the car. If it wouldn't have been so cold I would have gone home in my wet suit!LOL What I really found shocking was how heavy my body felt when I got out of the pool. I wasn't the only one who noticed this feeling, several ladies were saying the same thing. I will say that I am not sore today, slept better than I have in a long time and woke up with more energy than usual. My next class is tomorrow night. To night I go to my "Biggest Loser" group at church and get my weekly weigh-in. Everybody keep up the good work!

vegas-c Posted April 9, 2009 #246 Share Posted April 9, 2009 What a great group of supportive people. I am joining up. My name is Connie, live in Vegas, have way too much to lose, but will get started, cruise is scheduled for September, and mostly would like to be able to wear a few of the things I already own. Will go weigh in now and plan on updating everyone every Wed. (seems like as good a day as any.)
riddle Posted April 9, 2009 #247 Share Posted April 9, 2009 Welcome Vegas-C. Wow - live in Vegas. It is one of my favorite places to vacation. By the way Vickey I could not believe it when you told us of your vacation/birthday surprise. This is wonderful! After cruising, Vegas is my second favorite place to visit. Where do you stay? What kind of things do you like to do there? I went out last October for a short one. We try to go once a year. I was hoping to go this spring but it looks doubtful. Everyone STAY OUT of the Easter candy. Concentrate on the hard boiled eggs instead. Seriously, everyone have a safe and happy holiday. Be checking in throughout the weekend. Marsha:) :)
brnsnbrws Posted April 9, 2009 #248 Share Posted April 9, 2009 Really disappointed with my weigh in at my biggest loser group last night. This has been my best week yet for eating(or so I thought) and I started water aerobics this week and I only lost 1/2 pound. I have been losing between 2 to 3 pounds a week.
