Elaine515 Posted March 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2009 I always thought you had to tender in Belize but when we got our tickets the little star was only next to Grand Cayman*. When I looked down it said *Ship tenders at this Port Does Belize have a pier? I always thought that was a tender Port as well... Thnx...
JCieslak Posted March 8, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2009 I was there a couple of weeks ago and we tendered....
JKAMAM Posted March 8, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 8, 2009 We haven't been there for a few years, but it was a tender port then.
BND Posted March 8, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 8, 2009 You have to tender. The water is too shallow and full of coral to dock.
BrendaB1 Posted March 8, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 8, 2009 You have to tender. The water is too shallow and full of coral to dock. Correct. Love those little boats to shore. They fly.
Maxax Posted March 8, 2009 #6 Share Posted March 8, 2009 Belieze is a tender...and its a little bit different...kind of tender. The ships have to anchor quite a ways out...and Belieze City where you port at...is right at a river Delta - so it just sort of looks different. When we were there...the water was quite muddy...kind of like the mouth of the Mississippi...its really quite cool!
Unicoidawg Posted March 8, 2009 #7 Share Posted March 8, 2009 Correct. Love those little boats to shore. They fly. Yeah they got that down to a art.......... This is looking back at the Valor last year when we were going in.........
ruchaos Posted March 8, 2009 #8 Share Posted March 8, 2009 We were there a few years ago and we took a tender which was like a big speed boat, and we had quite a ride! It was great - we went to the reefs for snorkeling and to this little tiny island with just palm trees and a little shack (snack bar) and there are lots of small islands in the area and it was just wonderful! I love seashells and our guide dove down in 20+ ft of water to show me a giant live conch! Great experience.
saltmom1 Posted March 8, 2009 #9 Share Posted March 8, 2009 LOVE Belize. Tenders.....not so much. The tender doesn't take too long.
*Mach* Posted March 8, 2009 #10 Share Posted March 8, 2009 Belize is ALWAYS a tender port. You'll drop anchor about five and a half miles out due to the reef. Belize has the an AMAZING reef, second only to Australia's Great Barrier Reef!!!
Sea Born Posted March 8, 2009 #11 Share Posted March 8, 2009 Well, I heard it takes about a 1/2 hour to get there by tender. If that is the case, that is a "long" tender ride!
BND Posted March 8, 2009 #12 Share Posted March 8, 2009 More like 15-20 minutes.
crusinpsychRN Posted March 8, 2009 #13 Share Posted March 8, 2009 Mach, do you dive?
Name Of The Game Posted March 20, 2009 #14 Share Posted March 20, 2009 Carnival leaves Belize at 5:00. What time is the last tender? What if too many people waited for the last one and it wouldn't hold all the people waiting, would they send more boats to get everyone?
welldone60 Posted March 21, 2009 #15 Share Posted March 21, 2009 Just be ready if you are standing up when they get near the port. They throw the brakes on. Several in our tender were thrown forward while standing and taking pictures as we approched the port. Just hang on if you are standing.
