Smoking policy on Princess

Since we are sailing with a mixed group of smokers and non-smokers, can anyone tell me the policy on Princess?

I assume

Diningrooms are NO.

Staterooms and private balconies YES.

Theater NO.

But what about bars? Are there designated areas such as port or starboard side or seats at the bar or what? And other public rooms, what about those? (ie: lounges, discos, etc...) And outside on the deck - is it smoking on one side and non on the other?

Not wanting to start a smokers vs non-smokers debate. Just want to try to satisfy everyone in my group if possible as far as smoking is concerned.

Thanks!

Your assumptions are correct. Every lounge and bar I've been in has had a smoking as well as non smoking section. The casino is totally smoking. Some ships have a cigar bar as well. Outside, you can tell which side is smoking by the availability of ashtrays on tables on on size of the Lido deck vs the other. I've seen people smoking on all sides of the Promenade deck, so if there is a rule there, it isn't enforced much.

Usually it is portside.

Thanks for the help!

We have narrowed our family cruise down to 3 RCI ships, 2 Carnival, and 2 Princess. Since some in our group of 8 smoke and some do not it makes sense to try and find a ship that will make everyone happy. We like the itineraries on all the ships and the service/food/entertainement seems to be about even. I know all 3 have a different ambience onboard, and again, that is fine with all of us, though we've been fans of RCI for 15 years now. Seems like smoking areas is the last bone of contention.

Just trying to make the best informed decision.

Again, thanks for the help!

The atrium bars do not allow smoking but the enclosed bars like the Wheelhouse and the Explorer do have a smoking section. There is also a cigar bar on the Grand class and larger ships. The port side does allow smoking on the Lido deck and there are ashtrays on the tables. And the casino is smoking allowed, even when the machines aren't running and the table games aren't being played.

The bars and lounges which have smoking sections vary by ship. For example, on the Coral, the Crooner's bar in the atrium has a nice smoking section in front of the windows. On the Grand Princess the back section of the Wheelhouse Bar is smoking, Snookers is smoking, and the entire casino. The Sun and Dawn usually have smoking in the Atrium bar in the section next to the bar. The general rules are smoking on public decks on the port side. (You'll know because you will see the ashtrays.) Staterooms and balconies are smoking if you want them to be.
