SwingChickie Posted March 13, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2009 my BF and i want to take it easy when our ship gets to belize. we're thinking massage on the ship in the morning, then having a nice lunch somewhere around the port and going to the beach for an hour or so. sooooooo... 1. does anyone have a recommendation for a restaurant in the area that would serve a yummy lunch? bonus points for outdoor seating. 2. are there any beaches in the area that we can walk or cab to and just go for a short bit? we'd rather not pay for an all-day beach excursion that we're not going to use. thanks!!! NanaOfBKM Posted March 14, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2009 I don't know about going out on your own to a beach. I'm not sure how safe that would be. We did the Captain Your Own Boat excursion with Coral Breeze Tours. the port area didn't seem that large but there is a Wet Lizard restaurant there that had some good food and drinks. Some seats outside. They have a website you can check out.
Rare crewsweeper Posted March 18, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 18, 2009 Harbor View on Fort Street in the old customs house has views of the harbor, cinnamon crusted snapper and good ceviche. A bit pricey for Belize but reasonable in $US. You may wish to try the Smokey Mermaid in the courtyard of the Great House Hotel for Belizean smoked fish. http://www.greathousebelize.com/ Jam-Bel Jerk Pit specializes in Jamican-Belizean cusinine with an outdoor garden and lots of reggae. It's over on King Street. About 10 minutes from the port on Western Highway is Sibun Bit Bar & Grill in an older beach complex with a varied menu and seating on the beach.
