round trip and Sitka - rough?

Am I right that on the Mercury's roundtrip out of Vancouver with Sitka as a port, there would be 1/2 the trip outside rather than the Inside Passage? DH thinks the seas would be too rough, but I really don't want to deal with flying into/out of Anchorage. The flight times are bad.

If you sailing in the middle of summer sea's wont be an issue at all. If in the spring you may get the odd storm but once out of winter this area has much calmer seas.

Thanks, Barrick. We had planned to go mid July to mid August when the salmon are running. Maybe this will convince DH to do this itinerary.

We have been...and it was fine, there was a little rolling one night, but it was fun!!:) It's such a incredibly beautiful trip up there, whichever way you go.! We are going again this August on the Infinity...

I'm working on my husband, too, for mid-July. I love that itinerary and the rates aren't too bad. No one has started a roll call yet. Hopefully one of us can do it soon.;)
