Passport issue regarding children

Recommended Posts

A parent should sign for the child per the instructions (and in the US, a passport is not valid until signed).

22. My child is too young to sign his/her own passport. How do I sign my child's passport?

In the space provided for the signature, the mother or father must print the child's name and sign their own name. Then, in parenthesis by the parent's name, write the word (mother) or (father) to show who signed for the child.

Do children sign (print) their own passports or do the parents sign them? They are ages 18 months, 5 and 8 years old.

Different countries - different rules!

If you are Canadian, check out the Gov of Can website regarding the passports for children. If your child is 11 or under, there is to be no signature - not even the parents.

If you are a US citizen, I would confirm with the US Passport office.
