spookey Posted March 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 15, 2009 Do children sign (print) their own passports or do the parents sign them? They are ages 18 months, 5 and 8 years old.
ginger2000 Posted March 15, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 15, 2009 Don't know about the US, but with Canadian passports, the childrens passports are not signed - by them or us!
cherylandtk Posted March 15, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 15, 2009 A parent should sign for the child per the instructions (and in the US, a passport is not valid until signed). 22. My child is too young to sign his/her own passport. How do I sign my child's passport? In the space provided for the signature, the mother or father must print the child's name and sign their own name. Then, in parenthesis by the parent's name, write the word (mother) or (father) to show who signed for the child.
CuriousMind Posted March 15, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 15, 2009 As cherylandtk said, either parent must sign on the passport for the child before it becomes valid. We signed for our kids, 5 and 2 1/2.
vavasmom Posted March 15, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 15, 2009 A child who can sign (not print) their name should sign their own. DD signed her first passport just before her 8th birthday and signed her renewal.

Different countries - different rules! If you are Canadian, check out the Gov of Can website regarding the passports for children. If your child is 11 or under, there is to be no signature - not even the parents. If you are a US citizen, I would confirm with the US Passport office.
