Bed & Breakfast in Rio

We are not big fans of hotels so we are looking at B&B accomidations for our pre cruise stay in Rio, There are a few in Santa that look interesting. Does anyone have a recommendation based on experience?

You didn't mention your cruise dates, nor give a price range for accomodation. Hope this is in time to help...or at least serve as reference for future travellers.

By "Santa", I assume you mean the neighborhood of Santa Teresa, up in the hills overlooking the beaches and city center. Santa Teresa is a neighborhood that is in process of gentrifying, and while interestingly artsy, with much Colonial architecture and many shops and restaurants, it is still subject to the problems of transitioning neighborhoods in any city. A daytime visit when transportation (especially the famous 'bondinho' trolley) is conveniently more frequent and safe, while staying in the beach neighborhoods of Ipanema/Arpoador/Copacabana, might be better for a first time visitor. There are not so many B&B type accomodations in the beach neighborhoods, though, but maybe take a look at Marta's Guest House in Copacabana. Thanks for the links - Our cruise date is April 2010 (lots of time to research.) We are not big beach people, but for Rio, that may be the place to stay. Not too worried about price. Rio is not as expensive as a lot of cities.
