Adult Only Cruise

Recommended Posts

I know that Celebrity does a few adult only cruise but does anyone know if Royal Caribbean does or is going to? I think Celebrity has about a handful each year.

I would also Like to know how many people would like to see a "few" adult only cruise with Royal Caribbean.

Thank you
Jamie

RCI bills itself as a family cruise line, isn't going to happen.

Anyway, Celebrity had to run a Happy Hour special to help fill up the one it has in June, so they must not sell that well.

Me, me, me, me!!!
I wish RCCL would get with the program and do at least a few adult-only cruises. And I wish that Celebrity did more, and would add longer cruises to their adults only schedule.
While I know that RCCL is catering to "family" cruises, I would think at least a few adults only cruises might be popular. I will keep my fingers crossed!!

With all the people that complain about children on the ship you would think they would have no problem selling out cruise that were only for adults. As for there being a happy hour special for one of the Celebrity adults only cruise, I have seen plenty of Celebrity cruises on Skyauction so they must have plenty of unsold cabins on lots of cruises.

i got real lucky on the last cruise, rhapsody, feb 22, the mardi gras cruise, in that there were no kids on it. i think 3 familys had infants, the little bitty ones, but nothing over 1 year or under 21. the kid camp folks were looking fer anything to do for the week<G>.
and i have to say, no kids running around was nice. so, yes, a few adult only cruises each year, would probably be a good idea.

Yes! I would go on an adults only cruise in a heartbeat! I would love to go to the hot tub knowing there would be no kids jumping in and out like it was their very own swimming pool.

We too would be interested in an adult cruise only. However, since that isn't an option on RCI, we'll live with it and enjoy our cruise anyways

it might have been helpful if celebrity would tell you when the adults only cruise was. i just searched for a cruise there and had no idea if it was adults only or not.

superjerryw, surely you realize that if you are refering to the people on the cc boards as "all the people that are complaining" that they are, in reality, a very small number of the total cruising population. There are far more people that cruise than are accounted for on these boards. Royal Caribbean is successful as a family line, no need to change it.

There are almost 100,000 people registered on Cruise Critic. While they certainly are not the entire cruising population, they probably are a representative sample. Any time that research is done on something it is never possible to question everyone that might be affected so a statistical sample is used. I would say that there is a fair cross section of people here and the complaints echoed on this board probably reflect the cruising community in general.

You know they might solve this problem in another way like limiting the sheer number of kids under 18. Then again the easiest way to help this problem would be to apply their own (cruiselines) rules. It says no kids in hottubs then remove any kid that is in there no matter what and if parents don´t cooperate - well then the cruise ends in the next port.

I'm booked on the Rhapsody May 23rd, only taking into considertaion that local kids would still be in school. Now I'm a little worried, there might be a ton of `em. I love kids, but not a couple hundred kids. I would never let the presence of kids ruin my vacation in any way but, just curious. Anybody ever cruised around that time? How many kids were there?

Some schools end early May ohhcaitlin.

I for one would love a adults only cruise. Years ago there weren't many children who cruised - you may see 5-10 onboard. Now many sailings have become a parent's babysitting service.

Moeve,
I agree with you--that would be the simplest and cheapest way. But, I doubt that RCCL is going to want to "offend" parents by telling them their precious darlings are "breaking the rules". If they would enforce their present rules, things would be a lot better for everyone and safer for the kids.

I have yet to cruise (May 31/04 - Yeah!) so I can't speak from experience.
..but here is the problem with the Adult only cruises offered, and for that matter the Non-smoking cruise that is soon to be discontinued.
Too limited a selection. Simple as that.
Yes, I would sail on an adult-only curise in an instant. Same with a non-smoking ship.
So why didn't I?
Because my wife and I only have 2 weeks for our holidays, they are pre-selected and therefore, we searched for ANY cruise that sailed within those 2 weeks, AND we could drive to the port, AND sailed eastern caribbean. So guess, what, that sure narrows it down.
That is how we are going to be with RCI and Grandeur for two GLORIOUS weeks, kids or no kids (so be good for goodness sake!), and with the smokers too (although I've been known to throw smokers overboard (just kidding - If smokers are respectful, than so am I).

I agree with erin_cruisers post. We can only make vacation requests 4 months in advance and it takes about a month to find out if we get the requested dates or not. We have looked into Celebrity's adults only but have not been able to book because of the above mentioned scheduling problems. But we would jump at the chance to do an adults only cruise if we could.

superjerryw, Of the 100,000 people on the CC boards, not all are on Royal Caribbean boards. Also, not all on the Royal Caribbean board are against kids on a cruise!
Voyager class ships= approx. 3,000 passengers/ sailing, x 4 ships in that catagory= 12,000 passengers/week, x 52 weeks/year= 624,000 passengers/year, on one class of ships. Obviously the < 1000,000 people on the Royal Caribbean boards are not the magority. I don't think that repeat cruisers will change the numbers much!

Hi everyone, I am not against kids I just wanted to get people thoughts on this subject as I would love to RCI do a "few" adult only cruises.
I am also very aware that RCI is successful as a family line and again just wanted others to let me know if they would also like this option.
