BroncosFan2010 Posted March 16, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2009 I am from Michigan, so am used to cool/cold weather. I am starting to think about what to "collect" for packing for Alaska. I have heard that it will probably be in the 50-60's while we are there. I would like to hear from experienced Alaskan cruisers: More sweaters, jackets, jeans, ect? I have only done Caribbean cruises before, so this is NEW territory for me! What MUST I pack, and what should I leave home? Thanks!
CowPrincess Posted March 16, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2009 MUST-HAVE: A rainproof hooded jacket. A fleecy. Good warm socks (not cotton) though you may not need them, they don't take much room. Think in layers, layers, layers. On a typical chilly day on the AK cruise, I wear a long sleeved t shirt, a fleecy, and a rainproof hooded jacket, so I can remove, replace, reorganize my clothing as needed. At the time you're going, a nice item to have would be convertible pants -- where the bottoms zip off to turn the pants into shorts.
GORDONCHICK Posted March 16, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2009 Think layers instead of typical bulky winter clothing like heavy sweaters. Also, waterproof footwear (not rain resistant).
