Sailaways_ Posted March 18, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 18, 2009 I found this book today while surfing cruise sites, and was wondering if anyone on here had read it. Was it any good? I love Celebrity and reading about the history of cruising/older cruise lines, but I'm worried that it might be kind of dry. Like, too historical and not enough anecdotes, you know what I mean? Also, the price on Amazon ($40!) is holding me back a little. :p Here's the link to it on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Chandris-Liners-Celebrity-Cruises/dp/1877058475/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1237313086&sr=1-1 The author has also written books on Sitmar lines and Australian ships as well. I've not read the book....not quite my cuppa tea. I did enjoy McCulloughs book "Path Between the Seas" about the building of the Panama Canal, however. If you love ship history and pictures...here's a website you might enjoy. I've provided a link that will take you right to the Chandris pages..... http://www.simplonpc.co.uk/ChandrisPCs.html

Oh, and I love the Simplonpc postcards site! I swear, I'm always on it at least once a day looking up old ships and cruise lines. No one has read the Chandris/Celebrity book...anyone? DEL67 Posted March 20, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 20, 2009 I haven't read it either, but would be interested in doing so since Chandris was the first cruise line we sailed on. I knew of the relationship between Chandris and Celebrity because the first Celebrity ship was one we sailed on under Chandris. And when we asked, Celebrity gave us credit for all 4 of our Chandris sailings. Of course, like you, I do not know it would be worth $40.
