Easiest time to Place people in right cabin

I've got a group of seven cabins with people all mixed up for past guest and military and teen purpose. I've done this before and I was thinking I was able to place people in right cabins at check-in. Is that right still? I saw where some people did it at purser's desk after they were on ship. Which do you think is the easiest way to handle this?

If you're in a big hurry, go to the purser as soon as you board. If there's a line, you can wait til a little later.

They will get the keys all straightened out for you.
