SirDomino Posted March 27, 2009 Author #26 Share Posted March 27, 2009 You need to check with your primary health insurance carrier. That helps to make decision. As to whether you should buy insurance or not for travel, that is a personal decision. I have debated this with another a people. From a statistic point of view, if you travel often, its a waste of money because you can afford to lose one as if you calculate how much you spend on each cruise, and add them up. But from a mental standpoint, losing all that money will not be fun. I have Blue Cross / Blue Shield, and they said I am covered outside of the country, but it is considered OUT OF NETWORK and they would only cover 70% of "Reasonable" costs. They do not provide trip interruption, or anything that is not medical related. SO I went ahead and got additional insurance to make up for the difference. As for travel insurance, I typically buy the tickets a week or two before departure, and I am not eligible for travel insurance.
happy cruzer Posted March 27, 2009 #27 Share Posted March 27, 2009 Pre-existing conditions also apply to family members. For trip cancellation or interrruption that can be important if a family member falls ill or passes away. Just another piece of the insurance puzzle....
