duty free - singapore

Has anyone completed their cruise in singapore this year? If so can you tell me about the transit procedure when flying home.

Apparently, you are not allowed to take any cigarettes through singapore without declaring them and paying duty.

I cannot get a straight answer on whether getting off a cruise ship and going to airport constitutes "arriving" in singapore.

Everything I have read indicates that it does. So, when you disembark and collect your luggage do you go straight to the buses, then airport, or do you have to go through customs at the cruise centre.

Hi,

Yes it is considered arriving in Singapore. The Ferry terminal and the airport are quite far from each other. U need to get out thru custom at Ferry terminal to enter SG and get into the Airport Departure hall where u need to go thru another custom to exit Singapore.

Not sure on how strict is the ine for cigarettes though.. obviously they will check on your hand carry bag.. but for the baggage..hmm...
