Parking for Cunard at Southampton

Dear All

Joined cruise critic today. Enjoyed reading many threads and responses. Our question - driving from NE England to join QM2 (Autumn colours Sept 2009) - need to park the car at Southampton docks - any help and suggestions please.:)

We normally use this company, and have found them very good.

 

Other alternatives are to book a hotel with free parking for your voyage duration. Hilton is one.

Hilton have an offer on , park & stay for £199.00 with 2 weeks parking, breakfast and transfers to the ship, inc gym and swimming pool.

 

We like jackie always use cps parking, they are very good, you drive up, drop your bags, park the car and walk across the road , easy,

 

I think our good friends Terry & loretta are on that voyage as well, if so , please say HI to them:)

Rob, Free is always good, but I think the hotel is a bit of a schlep from the terminal by shuttle so it may take a bit longer, but who cares - I've got nothing better to do,,:cool:

Hi Jim, Hope you are well.

 

 

I believe the Hilton provide a shuttle service to the terminal and also take care of your luggage from check in point to cabin.

 

However, have never stayed there, we normally stay at the Marriott Meon Valley. Suites at £145 a night including breakfast. Can't fault it.

but then who can beat jims price of nothing.

 

BTW, I can reccomend good hotels in Yeovil (NOT) but thats a way off the docks, but there is free parking?

I shall report on the experience. Thing is I only live 70 miles north of Southampton so I don't really want/need the hotel room. But the parking should be ok. Maybe

We have stayed at the Marriott before and have been very happy.

 

We really would prefer to stay in Soton, so will be very interested to hear how you get on at the Hilton.

C and PS are excellent, especially if you book valet parking. You pay for a valet, which you have three or four choices plus parking, and on arrival you drive right up to the embarkation area, your siutcases dissappear on board ship, and your car is taken away for parking. When you arrive back, you pick up your suitcases as normal, and your car is usually in the same shed, so no walking to a car park, just collect the keys and off you go.

Just to expand a little, if you book the normal parking package with CPS they park the car for you after removing the luggage.

 

Disembarkation is not quite so easy - once you've found your luggage, not always easy, you go and collect the car keys, they point you in the direction of the car park, which is across a small road and a little walk from the terminal, and you wobble off into the distance...

 

Perhaps it is different if you book some kind of valet cleaning service whilst the car is left with CPS?

What you have been told is very nearly right :) You do pick up your luggage and then depending which Terminal you are at you go outside and across the road to the car park and hand over your pink copy of the contract - no copy no car , they give you the keys and you go to the car and depart, the QE2 terminal the cars are all in the hall when you come out of the luggage bit. Having the car cleaned or serviced makes no difference to these procedures. They take minutes and the most you walk is 200 yards with either a porter or a luggage trolley.

Just a small point lol, we did that once, and no car in the hall, we got off too early, we had to walk.

 

I would say, use them, they are very good, drop your bags, park the car and walk the 200 yrds

 

spend any excess cash in the bar or casino

Here is another vote in favour of CPS parking and for perhaps a slightly different reason.

 

On one occasion we received a message at our last port of call (St Peter Port) that a close relative had been admitted to hospital and we were anxious to get there as quickly as possible. Having the car conveniently parked at the quayside proved a godsend - we did self disembarkation (from QE2), picked up the car from CPS in no time at all, and were on the road and away by 7.30 am. Personally I wouldn't do it any other way.
