Hello, I planning on parasailing while in KW and the boat leaves from behing the Westin Resort. Can anyone tell me if there is a free beach near there?

Hello, I planning on parasailing while in KW and the boat leaves from behing the Westin Resort. Can anyone tell me if there is a free beach near there?

 

There are no free beaches around there but you can go out to the beach on Sunset Key which is associated with the Westin. You get a pass for the beach from the concierge and they will sign you up for the ferry. The pass is $40 for people not staying at The Westin and $20 for people who are guests of the hotel. Beach chairs are available there. and an upscale restaurant - L'Attitudes.

 

Or you can walk over to the beach at Fort Zachery Taylor. There is an admission charge there, too, and you can rent beach chairs and there is a snack bar.

There are two free beaches, but you will find them a very, very long walk. I suggest a taxi. They are Smathers Beach and Higgs Beach. The beach at Sunset Key is just lovely. I'm a big fan of Sunset Key, but it is quite a high fee. I'm also a huge fan of Fort Zachary Taylor State Park. There is a daily fee, but it is good for the entire day.

Thanks everyone, I'm just trying to figure out what to do after our excursion. I will definitly check out Smathers and Higgs Beaches.
