ritarussell Posted April 30, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2004 We are taking a family cruise in November on the Enchantment and we are considering getting the Junior Suite w/ Balcony since we will have the kids with us for more room. Has anyone stayed in a balcony cabin with little ones? I'm kind of nervous - how is the balcony set up and is there a high enough wall that I shouldnt' be concerned? I may be a little over cautious but that's the kind of mom I am! Also, has anyone stayed in this category and is it worth the extra $$? Finally, any info on Adventure Ocean would be appreciated, we have a 3, 7 and 12 year old. THANKS!!!!! 11/03 Fantasy 4/03 Sensation 5/02 Sovereign of the Seas
mert461 Posted April 30, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 30, 2004 Hi ritarussel, I'm on the Enchantment in July and am curious about the answers you get. Today seems to be my day for others asking the same questions I have! I'll keep watching for an answer with you. Donna
ritarussell Posted April 30, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 30, 2004 Thought of another question - is there access to wheelchairs onboard RCL ships? THANKS! 11/03 Fantasy 4/03 Sensation 5/02 Sovereign of the Seas

bbrad8 Posted May 3, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 3, 2004 ritarussell, We were on the Enchantment 2/99. At that time our kids were 14 and 16. They both enjoyed Adventure Ocean. While your 3 and 7 yr old will be in different programs than what our kids experienced, the staff was first rate! The people have certainly changed in the interuim (along with many other things), but the physical layout of the area was definately something that all age groups did seem to be enjoying themselves. As for the balcony issue, we were not in a balcony, but we have taken our 9 year old on cruises with balcony cabins without incident. He has been going since he was 7, without issue. Our only rule is that he is not allowed on the balcony without a parent. NO EXCEPTIONS. Even though the balconies are very secure, he is still a boy and very adventuresome! It makes mom and dad feel much better . Hopefully somebody can provide you some more current info. Hope this helps. Lonesloane Posted May 3, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Hi, we were on the ship March 7, 2004 we had an owners suite with our 2 girls ages 7 and 9. We also travelled with friends who stayed in the room directly below ours with a balcony and they had two children also ages 3 and 10. We had no problems with the balconies and have to tell you the kids never wanted to leave adventure ocean. Especially the 3yr old he hated leaving AO!! The staff is absolutely wonderful there! Also if your child is 3 or under they give you a beeper to use while on the ship so they can get ahold of you in case of an emergency. A lot of their activities are group oriented, so if your child is wanting to do things on their own they may not like there, but all of our kids loved it!! ritarussell Posted May 4, 2004 Author #8 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Thank you all for your help! My 6 yr old daughter is looking forward to it, even though she can't understand why this ship doesn't have Camp Carnival I told her I'm sure it's the same if not better. Looking forward to sailing on the Enchantment! 11/03 Fantasy 4/03 Sensation 5/02 Sovereign of the Seas
BabySam99 Posted May 4, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 4, 2004 ritarussell what are the dates of your cruise in November? I will be cruising in November also...good questions and great pictures Tmmull! I booked the same suite, Junior and I am happy with what the pictures show. Another questions, is the sofa bed comfy? We will have three adults in our room and one will sleep on the sofa bed. Thanks in advance! peteinsonj Posted May 4, 2004 #10 Share Posted May 4, 2004 We were on the Enchantment in a "Jr Suite" (forward, in the 8000's, close to the bridge). Wonderful room -- large bathroom (esp compared to other cabins). Large balcony. One large queen bed, sleep sofa, large dressing area/closets. tv/vcr The railing is pretty high -- unless your kids are standing on a chair or table, can't see that they'd be in any danger. My kids were out there alot. ENjoyed laying on the chaise lounge -- looking at the sea. Have a wonderful trip! Pete
