English_in_Spain Posted April 2, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2009 Anybody know why there are no cruises showing up for Wind Spirit in April? It should be just finishing its TA. Is this because they are all full or has it been chartered? It was scheduled to be in Alicante on April 23rd with Wind Surf. Is this still the case? lovecruisingtoo Posted April 2, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2009 I suspect it is due to a "wet dock" and dry dock. Looking at a brochure from a few months ago, the Spirit did not show the trans-Atlantic crossing or cruises in early April. In the past, this is when they have tended to do major refurbishments. at-c Posted April 6, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 6, 2009 I just returned from the Wind Spirit, leaving her on April 4. The buzz among the crew was that the transatlantic sailing would be without passengers for the two weeks. This would allow the crew to do a bit of maintenance to the ship, including painting and general thorough cleaning. Even the casino hostess had her own chores to do, like hand scrubbing all of the casino chips. It was a wonderful week, and the crew were so friendly and accommodating. From the hosts, Candisse and Conor, to the bar staff, Gino and Elman, to the waitstaff, San and Charles, everybody was more than helpful. Most of the crew is aboard the ship now, cleaning it up for the summer Europe season. The wear and tear is visible in areas, so the spiffing up is certainly going to help. The Windstar ships are all very special with an experience that is not like any other cruise line.
