The Real PM Posted April 8, 2009 #26 Share Posted April 8, 2009 Having done a 19 day cruise through the Panama Canal last year, I can tell you that yo have to love cruising to do it. (We do). Perhaps you should try a shorter cruise, 5-7 days, and maybe one with a lot of ports. Our first was to Alaska, and we got hooked. Hope that helps. You mean it takes 19 days to go through the Panama Canal?:D
Lurker1 Posted April 8, 2009 #27 Share Posted April 8, 2009 You mean it takes 19 days to go through the Panama Canal?:D Nope. It takes 19 days to go from Fort Lauderdale to Seattle, with stops in the Bahamas, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico (3), San. Diego, and Victoria. It was a Repo cruise, as the W'Dam was moving from it's Carribbean season to it's Alaska Season. Of course with those Panama Buns they serve while you are in the Canal, 19 days to go through wouldn't be so bad.

We went to Panama on the QM2 last year, but we couldn't fit in the Canal, so we didn't go.

I sincerely hope you had not been lead to believe that you would do so. Lord, that would have been an unholy turn of events.

Yeah, they told us we could take one of those little crowded tourist boats and go half way, but it didn't seem quite the same. And we certainly couldn't wait around for them to finish the canal--so we left for sunnier horizons. It's just the QM2 is simply too big!!!:)
