cruzincurt Posted April 6, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2009 Due to the large number of ships, why don't they start some 7 day cruises say on a Tuesday? This would spread out the load on the airlines and the port facilities. I know some 4 and 5 days start on other days of the week, why not a 7 day? I'd take a cruise from Tuesday to Tuesday. This would also spread the load on the private islands.
DanJ Posted April 6, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2009 We're doing a Friday to Friday this summer. My company only gives out vacation time from weekend to weekend, so I had to book 2 weeks off because I couldn't just get 2 days off in the prior week. I think many places are like that for vacation time and many people don't walk to take 2 weeks together to take a 7 day cruise. For me, because it's the summer, the days off prior to departing for Baltimore will be used well in the pool or the golf course. But ideally, I would have like to take a longer cruise if I'm using that much vacation time.
wrp96 Posted April 6, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 6, 2009 Because most people are limited in vacation time and when you start a cruise on the weekend people can fly in a day or two in advance without taking more than a week's vacation time. Most people seem to think of weeklong (as opposed to shorter vacations) vacations as starting on the weekends.

*Kendra* Posted April 6, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2009 I am taking two cruises this year through Costa that both start and end on a Tuesday.
eandj Posted April 6, 2009 #6 Share Posted April 6, 2009 Look around but you won't find many as most people want to use one week vacation M-F. And only take kids out of school if necessary for 5 days. Add the weekends on either side and it's perfect. Mainstreams market to the American work/school schedules.
