glrounds Posted August 19, 2010 #278 Share Posted August 19, 2010 I don't mean to hijack, and I don't mean to be rude, but why do you keep telling people to use the "repeat" code. I know it gets them a small discount, but if they are not repeat customers then that's not their discount to receive. Most people who have ordered know the code as it comes with the flasks and the receipt; sorry it just seems like a bad call - kinda like taking newbies to the past guest party. Eventually they'll do away with it and nobody will be able to use it. "Kinda like smuggling booze on a cruise ship" . . . LOL . . . love it . . . I guess even booze smugglers have an honor streak. ROFLMAO :D
jendog Posted August 19, 2010 #279 Share Posted August 19, 2010 Have to ask since Carnival has got so strict about checking everything now, is everyone still getting by with smuggling? Still trying to figure out how to get DH beer on board, he drinks to much to buy it all from them.:D

luvmysox1 Posted August 20, 2010 #283 Share Posted August 20, 2010 The cabin steward just cleaned around them:p SERIOUSLY?!! How did you find ur bed? Wow. WHoo Hoo!!! I didn't realize this thread was a year old but still "WOW"
pytnme Posted August 23, 2010 #284 Share Posted August 23, 2010 Booze is a lot cheaper in FLL than Canada, we got carried away a little. Had a great cruise though That's what our cabin on Princess looks like. LOL! Going on Carnival for the first time and not very fond of the 1 bottle per person. Did you put all of it in your checked bags or did you carry some on? Also, were you able to bring any back to your room from the ports?
DryCreek Posted August 23, 2010 #285 Share Posted August 23, 2010 I have been reading (lurking) the smuggler topics for a while now. I see that the rich folks tend to look down their noses on those who prefer not to pay exorbitant drink prices asked by the cruise lines. If I had unlimited money to throw away, I would probably be the same, but I don't think I could blame smugglers for all that is ailing the industry today. I have booked our first cruise, and we have saved for it for awhile. It kinda rankles me when I read someone stating that if you can't afford to pay too much for a drink, then you should just stay home. If I can't afford a Lexus should I just walk to work? Anyway, as I mentioned - we are sailing this November. We depart from Galveston. I did the BV thing and ordered some liquor for the trip. The one annoying thing is that due to the laws in TX, we cannot have our prize until the next day. Now I will have to resort to smuggling in order to have some "relaxers" just prior to, during, and after SailAway. So, it looks like I need you guys expertise here - carry-on or checked baggage? Small quantity, maybe 1/2 liter should do. I was thinking an empty (and well rinsed) pump-style hairspray bottle should work well. We have industrial food-grade cleansers at work. What says you, oh pirates of the cruise lines? Arrrrghhh!

What says you, oh pirates of the cruise lines? Arrrrghhh! Couldn't agree with you more. We've smuggled, and we still buy drinks on the ship. It's not like we bring stuff on so we don't spend money on alcohol. In my experience, we've always packed our stuff in our checked luggage, and brought the alloted bottle of wine with us in our carry on. We haven't cruised in 3 years, so I don't know if they've been more strict with the checked bags but we never had a problem.
jnojr Posted August 25, 2010 #287 Share Posted August 25, 2010 Ok, so Ive smuggled bottles in my checked luggage in multiple ziplock bags. What would make the Rum Runners a better choice? Because your bags are X-rayed, and if Dudley Do-Right sees what looks like booze bottles, they'll take them away. The idea of the RumRunners is that they aren't supposed to look like obvious bottles on an X-ray
Djonemore Posted September 8, 2010 #288 Share Posted September 8, 2010 Whats up everybody, this photo is from Aug/08 on the Carnival Legend... While docked in Honduras we managed to get this bottle of Smirnoff and 2 small bottles of Barcardi... We hid the bottles in the safe, but I think room service was curious as to why we kept ordering 3/4 cups of orange juice
bguppies Posted September 8, 2010 #289 Share Posted September 8, 2010 I wish I would have taken a picture of the Heineken mini-keg I took with us on the Imagination last January. Now Miller Lite and Coors Lite have their fridge dispensers which chould fit nicely in a suitcase also. (although their plastic won't be as sturdy as the metal min-keg) Bill
pytnme Posted September 11, 2010 #290 Share Posted September 11, 2010 Another question from a new Carnival cruiser... I was reading through other CC threads about checking in earlier then Carnival suggests. I noticed most rooms are not usually ready until after 2:00pm. If that is the case and you check in early, what do you all do with your carry on? With Princess our cabin has always been ready no matter when we check in, so we've never dealt with this dilemma. I would hate to drag around our carry on while we explore the ship. What has been your experience with this?
Djonemore Posted September 11, 2010 #291 Share Posted September 11, 2010 As far as I know you have to hold your carry on luggage until your stateroom is available...
mom22tinks Posted September 11, 2010 #292 Share Posted September 11, 2010 We give all of our bags to the porter with the exception of my purse, and a small bag which has our bathing suits. That way we eat lunch and then hit the pool. HTH Jessica

salty dingo Posted September 11, 2010 #294 Share Posted September 11, 2010 The folks at Carnival monitor these boards and know what we do. They could stop us at any time but I suspect that the good will and cost involved motivates them to let us have our fun. I believe this is true, and there is no reason responsible adults should not be trusted with alcohol. Carnival does step up enforcement during certain times like Spring Break, when lots of rowdy people typically cruise. Carnival is not as intent on maximizing the bar revenue as NCL is, and I commend them for that. Still, I would like to see a policy change to permit in-cabin alcohol to be brought on board. Then, get tough with people who take it out of their cabins.
waldocruiser1 Posted September 11, 2010 #295 Share Posted September 11, 2010 LOL I left them in a drawer when I was out... I think if they saw them they would leave them alone... I take care of my cabin steward so I dont think they would bother...... :D Catch me if u can carnival!!!! It would be to bad if you "took care" of your cabin steward with a 20 and he thought it was worth a 50, so he helped your inventory last longer by adding a little "mix" to your runner. you know "tastes like this punch has a little WANG in it"
98Charlie Posted September 20, 2010 #296 Share Posted September 20, 2010 Smuggling will never stop & there will always be some that gets through and some detected. jaycat Posted September 21, 2010 #298 Share Posted September 21, 2010 I have read several threads on smuggling and still a little torn. A rule is a rule and we are suppose to abide by the owner's rules. By now, Carnival should know you have to have a happy hour/discount drinks at some point offered to all cruisers. If you look at the total cost of some cruises...it can get pretty expensive. 5 days 8D cabin 1850+100(tip)+110(behind the scence)+55(BV drink)+DODx2= a LOT, not to mention additional tips, casino, bingo ,pics ,excursions and other drinks. Yes, you drink more when you are on vacation and not driving. What started out as an inclusive cruise become a 600per day vacation. If I smuggle too, I won't feel bad...I do feel bad about spending $600:confused: a day. I'm looking forward to drinking on the balcony with my hubby having some alone time. Why not smuggle? At their cost, I won't be repeating too many cruises.
Star1 Posted September 21, 2010 #299 Share Posted September 21, 2010 I received a letter in my room to go to the naughty room to pick up my suitcase. I had a 12 pack of soda and a 12 pack of water in it. The opended my soda box to look inside of it. The also looked at my water caps and tipped my water a few times. Let the water calm down and again tipped it a few times. Off I went with my suitcase. The ol'water bottle trick does not always work. Water does not bubble. I saw many, many bottles and cans on the tables. I was lucky, I got my water! I believe it is hit or miss if you get your things removed. A few people just brought in the original bottle and it made it to the room. Good luck but the naughty room is there if they see your booze. CruiseNewbie2334 Posted September 21, 2010 #300 Share Posted September 21, 2010 We just came back from the Mexican Riviera for 7 days on the Splendor out of Long Beach on Sept 12th. I have to agree, it is definately a hit / miss situation with regards to smuggling. (this is long, i should have been a writer) We were traveling with another couple. We each had bought the Cruise Special Rum Runners (3 big, 3 small) Well, me, being the drinker of the four, totally filled all my rr's with my friends, Jack, Captain, Jose & Ron (bacardi, hehe). Because 7 days is a long time... i also filled a shampoo & conditioner bottle with more Captain, just in case. I also brought a case of water, and two 12pks of sodas. Well my scaredy cat friend filled up only 2 of hers, one with Tequila for her hubby and one with Margarita (pre-mixed), she's a lightweight i guess, not to mention she couldve let me borrow the others... Anyways, ALL my rum runners made it to my room. we did put them in the leg of my bf pants and in the pockets of jeans and such. My friends hubby's tequila came through with no problem, he put it in between some shirts. Now her margarita got confiscated! But she put it right on top of the suitcase, like an afterthought. DUH! she should have hidden it. Anyways, needless to say, we had a great time, me mostly, in spite of the following: One of my bags did not make it to my room. That bag had my shampoo/conditioner bottles (Captain), my make up, my hair stuff, my deodorant, toothbrush, qtips, aspirin, basically all MY bathroom stuff. And it also had my video camera and a cooler we wanted for our sodas. Cust Svc couldnt find it, had me call home, where my 17 yr old daughter (staying by herself for the first time) told me that NO MOM, you didnt leave it in the trunk of your car, now can you stop bothering me! Anyways, CS gave me a little bag of toiletries. a toothbrush that was softer than a baby's bottom and didnt work for crap, some deodorant that i think made me stink more than if i had none on, and the shampoo/conditioner, but luckily my BF had the REAL shamp/cond in his bag, so i was lucky there. So all week long, i was having the time of my life, drinking to my hearts content, all while looking like crap with my dead hair and makeup-less face. I did go into el Walmarto in PV and got me a toothbrush & deodorant that actually worked but i wasnt spending my gambling money on make up. To answer your questions, yes we were able to get our rr's onboard, just hide them a little. btw, when we got home, we brought all our bags into the living room and went to the bedroom where i let my daughter hang out while i was gone and lo and behold RIGHT AT THE FOOT OF MY BED WAS MY DAMN BAG! THE ONE I ASKED HER ABOUT! THE ONE WITH MY HAIR AND FACE STUFF!!! And when i asked her about it she said, with a straight face "MOM!! YOU SAID TO LOOK IN THE TRUNK, NOT IN THE BEDROOM" Anyways, i think the moral of this story is KARMA IS A BITCH! Will i smuggle again? YES. Will i double and triple check that i have all my bags before i leave my house? YES YES YES.. p.s. the good thing, we still had liquor to drink when we got home (in the shamp/cond bottles! lol))
