Gooooooo Sox! Spirit Cruise

Recommended Posts

Once again a snippet of information in NCL.com turns into a CC question. Thank goodness for CC.

Shanghai Bar, Deck 7, Seats 63: Your typical sports bar, with an Asian twist. Enjoy a broad selection of premium beers and pub snacks while catching game highlights.

Does this or any other bars show Red Sox :D games in their entirety (highlights don't count)? Don't mention those Y-boys in NY ... Them's fightin' words.

I would hope so. Sitting here in my Sox Jersey, just enjoyed the home opener win, and getting ready for my Spirit cruise in June. . . .

Yes it was an enjoyable opening day for the Sox! I would think that there may be mutiny at sea (JK) if the Sox werent on the tube. Have a fun cruise.

Living on the South Shore, the only cruise out of Boston I have done is to Nova Scotia......for moms 60th b-day. Havent done the cruise to Bermuda out of Boston as I didnt care for the Majesty's lack of better stablizers on a different itinerary. How does the Spirit handle rough waters compared to the Majesty? I have done 9 cruises with the Majesty being the first and most unstable.

TIA

Great opening day win, BTW. :D

We have sailed Boston to Bermuda many, many times. The ship did not have NESN. The only time we saw the Sox on the ship was during the playoff when the game was simulcast on ESPN. The White Horse Tavern in St. George's routinely broadcast the games in the evening. BUT--the Spirit does not sail to St. George. Hopefully, there is a Sox loving tavern owner in Dockyard. ;)

I was on a cruise when the Red Sox were in the World Series and they didn't have it on TV. When they played the Cardinals. I spent the whole night at a computer. No more October cruises for me.

Off to Fenway for tonights game.

we were walking to the casino, one night, and had to elbow our way through the bar...some football game was on and the place as PACKED. here's photos before the dry dock/upgrades. as to what they will show, it depends on what is on the channels the ship has paid for.

Unfortunately, unless the game is on ESPN, or the ship has a contractual agreement to carry NESN or MLB, there are no guarantees about what games we will see on the Spirit or any other ship. They can't simply dial up the proper satellite and get whatever games or programming suits there fancy- just ask any local bars that try to show sports events without having an agreement with the particular team or league. We have seen Patriots, Red Sox and other local teams on some of our cruises and have been unable to watch others (for example the Patriots on last Fall's repositioning cruise out of Boston on RCI's Jewel of the Seas). It all depends on what they are permitted to show (in that instance, CBS, ESPN, and Fox football but not NBC).:(

It was the groom of my wedding cruiser group that asked... I guess he'll have to find other things to occupy his time LOL.

You'd think that cruising Boston to Bermuda all summer, considering the rabid :D Sox fans that are EVERYWHERE... that NCL would do SOMETHING to fix this 'major league problem .' Not rocket science, or then, again... is it?

Maybe Norwegians just don't 'get' baseball - The American Game.

Anything is possible (we were on one Bermuda cruise out of NYC and when we arrived in Bermuda, the cabin tv had NECN (New England Cable News) as one of the available channels. Will let you know what we experience when we sail on the Spirit in a month.:)

What might be good news for our groom might be bad news for our bride LOL. But would REALLY appreciate the 'heads-up' upon your return. Have a GREAT TIME!
