raart Posted April 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2009 My wife and I are planning a trip to Vancouver in the fall for about a week. We were originally planning on visiting in the first week of September but have noticed prices for hotels seem to be much cheaper in October. We are considering pushing the trip back to the first week of October but were wondering what the weather difference would be from a temperature and precipitation stand point. Have read many of the posts by the Vancouver natives and was wondering if they could help.
Urban trekker Posted April 8, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2009 Until the end of the cruise season in the 3rd week in September the hotel prices will be higher - as for the weather - this is often the nicest time of the year to visit - we often have pleasant temperatures and occasional rain - our real rainy season doesn't usually start until November - there are less tourists in town so many of the great attractions won't have lineups etc. Okay over to the rest of you locals Cheers Dennis
TCF Posted April 9, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 9, 2009 I have to agree 100% with Dennis! As a "local" for 61 years the Sept./Oct season is definitely my favourite.
raart Posted April 9, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted April 9, 2009 Thanks for the information. We always try to time our travel to avoid the crowds and if you can save a little money while your at it why not. We were just afraid that the beginning of Oct would be a little to far into the rainy season. Your help is greatly appreciated. Now we will have to work out a few minor details of how we will get there and where to stay. Thank you Rob
LeftcoastBC Posted April 9, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 9, 2009 I'm only 75% with Dennis :). The further you go into October the odds of good weather diminish. September sure can be great though. But I must say once again here. Vancouver is on the Coast and we do not claim to be able to predict good weather past Sunrise of the day you are here. October is noticeably cooler and wetter.
