fairstars Posted April 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2009 Hi Everyone, We will be staying in Bangkok for 3 nights after our B2B2B cruise, can anyone recommend a hotel in the Silom area? We have stayed in a different area of Bangkok before and were away from most popular areas. We have been looking at various options and think the Silom area looked more central to most tourist areas. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you Chris
Krakatoa Posted April 11, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2009 I think Sukhumvit is the best area in the centre of Bangkok. Many good hotels, Landmark, Sheraton, Westin, Park Plaza. Plenty of eating places and very short train ride from Siam Square and department stores.

fairstars Posted April 13, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted April 13, 2009 Thanks Klongmaster, We have been looking at the Sofitel as we are Gold Advantage Plus members. There are so many hotels to choose from I think it is a matter of which area to stay. Regards Chris
Bufrenee Posted April 13, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2009 For Silom area, thye bDusit thani is the top hotel in Thailand and is incredible, however the Banyan Tree is just as nice with a lovely Bar on the roof, where you can see Bangkok at night. Silom is quieter than Sukumvit area.
Klongmaster Posted April 14, 2009 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2009 Hate to disagree Bufrenee but Dusit Thani is well down the list when you're talking about the top hotel in Thailand. Remember that the Oriental and Peninsular are both in Bangkok and have been consistently voted amongst the best hotels in the world. This said, the Dusit is a nice property. Banyan Tree is not in Silom, it's in Sathorn and not in walking distance of Silom. Chris: If you have GAP then Sofitel will make you very happy.
