Fruit Punch, anyone?

The biggest consumer of fruit punch was children, who are not likely to be mixing it with anything.

It is childish for the aristocrass to turn every fruit punch discussion into a 12 steps program.

Filling a suitcase with alcohol is hardly smuggling. Every piece of luggage is x-rayed and the contents readily visible. If Carnival wanted to be like NCL, they could.

Ok, now you can go back to spying on your neighbors to see what evil they are doing to the Easter bunny.

Exactly.....fruit punch was a universal favorite for the kids.

I am surprised that Carnival would remove it and basically force parents to buy a soda card for the kids that do not like lemonade.

And if Carnival becomes more like NCL..they'll lose me as a customer, and trust me my bar tab is very profitable for them--even tho I do enjoy my drinks mixed by me in my cabin.

I wonder how well NCL is doing compared to Carnival? Carnivals relaxed policy actually LOWERS your cabin cost because of the greater volume of passengers. And people that have a cocktail in their cabin are more likely to have few more when they go out the bars.

It's silly to think Fruit Punch is gone because of booze smugglers. Why don't they still carry it and just charge extra for it like Soda?

What was said earlier makes sense too, it's probably the kids that consume most of it because of soda prices. And a change in suppliers.

Heck, it's really not the mixer of choice for most drinkers. Except those only drink one or two drinks on vacations.

My mom loves the fruit punch, because the lemonade has no taste (unless you add 5 million packs of sugar), and she doesn't like iced tea. She said that the kids probably aren't going to like the guava juice (I personally like it), and would probably prefer the punch.

I never drank any of it, and preferred pineapple juice with my breakfast.

So is there a section with free drinks all day, like guava juice, tea, coffee, lemonade. ? We were on a disney ship years ago and there was.

In the morning there's guava/passion, orange juice, hot tea, coffee, milk, and then all day there's lemonade, iced tea, hot tea, coffee, milk (in little cartons).

Carnival is doing soooo much better than NCL right now.

It is around $3 for the smaller bottled water onboard. At dinner, they will ask you if you prefer bottled water. There will be two bottles in your cabin. If the room steward sees that you have used one, it gets charged to your room account.

Also on port days, there will be a waiter selling bottled water because of the scare they put out about the water on shore. Most of the water in the restaurants is filtered in the tourist areas. What most people blame on the water or food is usually because we are trying foods/seasonings that we are not used to.

Thank you for the information. As a first time cruiser, I'm thinking it's going to be difficult to discern which items are included in the cost of the cruise and which are not (charged to the S & S account). Is there a 'cheat sheet' somewhere that details which items are included and which are not? I suppose that list could go on forever! :D

Items that will cost you:

Tips

Bingo

Casino

Photos

Gift Shops

Spa

Any can or bottled product in your room

Soft drinks

Alcoholic drinks

Shore excursions

Lost blue towel (two in your cabin for use at the pool)

Items that are free:

Shows onboard

Food (exception would be cakes/desserts at the coffee bar)

Water

Coffee (note expresso/cappuccino are free at dinner)

Tea

Juices

Use of the gym

People watching (usually pretty amusing)

24 hour pizza/ice cream

Room service (though you will want to tip them)

I am sure they are others that people can add to it.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH G'ma!!!!! You need a real hobby!

Do you really think getting rid of the Fruit Punch has to do with alcohol??

They should get rid of the Lemonade too!! Don't you think?!?!?!:D

We are bringing Crystal Light packets, just like everyone else.

A lot less sugar than the Fruit Punch on the ship!!

Our Rum Runners all washed out and ready to go!!:D

my daughter has never liked pop/soda she grew up drinking milk and water, fruit punch, kool-aid and powerade(only red & blue). so I can not buy her the soda card but at least she can drink the water and milk.

Go to your local Wal-Mart. They have sugar-free dirnk mix in all the standard Kool Aid flavors in single-serve packets. I'm not a big soda drinker either, and drank cherry and grape ade all last cruise.

My DD just returned from the Spendor. No more fruit punch. What's with that? We sail on the VALOR in two weeks. Anyone know if they have Fruit Punch?

No more fruit punch?!?!?!? Where have I been? I'm aghast! Next thing you know they'll start charging for alcohol! :p

John replied to me via his blog.

"Let’s start with the fruit punch which has indeed can no longer be found in the dispensers. We do still have the juice and lemonade but I know how much everyone enjoyed the fruit punch so I am leading a personal fight to get it back."

Still not the news we wanted to hear but hopefully if enough people send emails to Carnival and put it on their comment cards, we can get them to change their minds.

I am really surprised, actually a bit stronger, amazed, at the number of folks who are upset about the lack of fruit punch on a cruise. My goodness, just go to any store and buy the packets of 10 for under two dollars and bring them onboard. Open, pour in a glass or bottle and drink, problem solved. After paying thousands of dollars for a cruise, why sweat the fact a two dollar beverage is not available. My goodness, this is absurd.

is very good..and mixes with rum even better
oh yes it does, BUT its only served for breakfast so you will need to get it early and save it somehow for the rum later in the day.

those big gulp thingies at 7-11 work very nicely for that:D

or bring a thermos or two to load up on a days supply of OJ and other fruit juices served at breakfast. ;)

Cruise ships raising prices over the past 20 years? What an absolute crock. Unless you are speaking of raining alcohol prices. If that is the case, then get with the program, grandma, and BYOB. :D

No need. I don't feel the need to drink myself into oblivion every day...2/3 drinks a day is fine with me........and, I pay for them..... My travel companion who comes along once in a while is the drinker.....and he pays for his too....including good wines at dinner.

Besides, as noted previously, I, like most people, obey the rules of the place...no matter where I am. I'd no more smuggle booze onboard than I'd smuggle a bottle into a restaurant or take my own popcorn to a theater.

how hard is it to bring packets of fruit punch? i buy my alcohol via the bon voyage department. good to know mixers can be brought on.

i am all for courtesy, but disagree that obnoxious tards need to be sent camping. that would mess up another love of ours. take it back! :p Sorry, I take it back. How about a tent in their own backyard?

i do not get the concept of booze smuggling. i think most of the fun for these people is the thrill of proving that nobody is going to tell them what not to do; kinda like a kid who has not grown up. Exactly!! Reminds me of adolescent high-schoolers who think it's cool to spike the punch when the chaperones aren't looking. Arrested development...:D my husband is like that. he started talking of smuggling booze, and i called the bon voyage department and ordered more than he can physically drink. that combined with the expectation that he will carry a champagne for me, and leave all but the mixers home put him in check. i think i even used the words "grow up". he is 16 years my senior. ;)

Good for you.

Besides, anyone who eats out in a nice restaurant knows what bar prices are like. Ships are in line with those prices.

Of course, many people's idea of "eating out" is McD's or Outback....:D

Shhhhh. . . . . Don't tell G'ma that WATER can be mixed with adult beverages, she(?) will want water banned from the ship, too!!!!

:D:D:D

Being a woman of a certain age and maturity and having cruised regularly for 35 years or so, there isn't much that I don't already know about it.... That includes the behavior of the boobs who scrape together the money to cruise and cut every corner they can get away with to avoid spending any money.

I've also watched the industry changed from a free-wheeling vacation for adults who are responsible for their own behavior to an industry packed with rules to keep the idiot, adolescent minded nitwits from ruining the experience for others onboard by their boorish behavior.

I must say, however, being a people-watcher, these folks certainly can provide entertainment...........

I've never met anyone who obeys all rules all the time, forever and ever, Amen. Not just cruise ship rules, but all rules. Also all laws including speed limits, income taxes including any gambling winnings. Pay SS taxes on domestic servants. Never stop, no matter however briefly, in a No Stopping area at an airport. Never wear white after Labor Day. Never post there is no Internet or TV in Cuba when Cuba has both.

If that is true, then walking on water should be a piece of cake. :D

Sure, they did. Do you really think they got rid of it because it stained the carpet? Hardly. Topic of conversation on Triumph in December while waiting for the trivia game to begin:

Passenger to CD who was running the game: Why don't they have the fruit punch on Lido deck anymore.

CD to passenger: They did away with it... Guess the smugglers will have to find another mixer, huh?

Passenger: Well, my kids liked it.

CD: I understand. Tell it to the smugglers.

Charging the same prices is one thing. Now if they would pour the same pour...

Of course, much like McD's or Outback, most cruise lines target the mass market. I don't know of any nice restaurant that does.
