flem1064 Posted April 13, 2009 Author #51 Share Posted April 13, 2009 Some of us really appreciate you taking the time to post these on here! They were very easy to read and quite informative. We are booked on the Glory for September and this just gives us something to look forward to and see what new things have been added since our last cruise. Which pier did you dock at in Cozumel? I know they are using two different ones and would like to kind of plan our day from there. Again, no matter what some posters say, there are those of us that are thrilled you took time to put these on here! Thank You! I think it was called Puerto Maya, the one further from downtown. In my opinion, way too far to walk to town, at least with kids. But I guess it depends on your level of fitness and patience? It was a $7 taxi ride each way for 4 people to get from Puerto Maya to the far end of the shopping strip.
Dave_MaryJo Posted April 15, 2009 #52 Share Posted April 15, 2009 Common misconception here. If you have ANY excursion booked (even on your own, as we did) all you had to do was be in the Ebony cabaret before 8AM, and all they did was hand you a tender ticket, no questions asked. This was told to us by the purser's desk. I thought the same thing was true, that the Carnival people had priority, it's really first come first served. We were handed ticket #2 and were told it was the first tender leaving the ship. Thanks for the information... We too have our own excursion in Belize and was worried about that. wpath Posted April 19, 2009 #59 Share Posted April 19, 2009 I appreciate all the info about the cruise! We are going on the same cruise itinerary on 5/16, and this is our first cruise on Carnival. We are celebrating our 20th anniversary on the cruise, and it sounds like a great time! My wife is a real shopaholic. Which port would you say has the best shopping? We are celebrating our 20th anniversary on the cruise, and it sounds like a great time!My wife is a real shopaholic. Which port would you say has the best shopping? It depends on what you are shopping for. Nassau has some nice shops and Cozumel has a looonggg shopping strip. Belize was very limited, not a shopping destination, IMHO. Costa Maya has a shopping village right at the pier, but we didn't find the bargains too abundant.

wpath Posted April 19, 2009 #62 Share Posted April 19, 2009 Thanks for the shopping info! I think of all the cruises we have taken, the Eastern Caribbean cruise had the best shopping...
flem1064 Posted April 20, 2009 Author #63 Share Posted April 20, 2009 He was saying he has Pic's of the Capers. :) But maybe he does have pictures from his cruise that he could post? To be honest, this was the third time we sailed the Glory in about 5 years. We've also done the Western 2-3 times now, so I took very few pictures compared to other trips. We're actually a little burnt out on the Caribbean, and we're thinking what we might do differently next year, maybe Alaska. Here's a few pics: This was the group in front of us at the ziplining in Belize, definitely do it! Front shot of the Glory, anchored off the coast of Belize. chewslak Posted April 20, 2009 #66 Share Posted April 20, 2009 Thanks for the pics. These are relatively new ports for my wife and I - Nassau has been dubbed "our 2nd home" because we visit so much and we like it there. We are in the same boat as far as the Caribbean, but we aren't burnt out yet, just wish some new ports would open up
flem1064 Posted April 20, 2009 Author #67 Share Posted April 20, 2009 The Dream is going to Honduras on the western, eliminating Nassau (I think) which would be fine with me. I can lose enough money in the onboard casino, so I don't need Atlantis. The shopping in Nassau is fine, if you're looking for duty-free stuff, but our budget is stretched already just taking the cruise. We had a really bad time in the straw market, so we won't be returning there. Even $5 Subway subs are $7 in Nassau! And I have the picture to prove it:

mmiddlebrook Posted July 10, 2009 #70 Share Posted July 10, 2009 Thanks for posting these Capers. We are going in a couple weeks and are very excited. Does anyone know what the hours of the gym are (or are they open 24 hours)? I've heard that the layout of the ship is a bit awkward due to the main dining room in the middle. Do you know if it would be possible to run the ship's circumference? (I was on Princess several years ago and was able to walk the ship, with a little up/down stairs). Is there a track for running and do you know how big it is? I want to run early and watch the sunrise. Thanks for any help.
