Book Boss Underwater Adventure directly?

I'm wondering if anyone knows if we'd come out cheaper booking the BOSS Underwater Adventure in St. Thomas directly or is it the same price as booking it through the cruise line?

We have not done this in St Thomas but did it in Cozumel last June and LOVED it!! We booked directly through the tour operators, which I'm sure are the same ones that Carnival uses. The cost was less. However, you need to factor in your transportation to and from the excursion location and compare the bottom line prices. Based on my experience, if the two prices are the same or close to the same, I'd rather go with Carnival than the independent tour operators, for convenience and assurance that you will return to the ship on time.

If you're going on Princess you can't. I emailed them and they have a contract with Princess so you have to go through Princess to do this excursion.

Being that it's so expensive, this could possibly be the only excursion that we do. Is it really worth that?
