I saw the other thread on shopping and loved it so much I wanted to know what are good deals in the following ports:

Santorini

Myknons jewelry, leather sandals, resort wear

Athens gold jewelry

Istanbul carpets, colorful Turkish pottery, costume jewelry, leather goods (not as good as Italian leather, in general), camel wood and inlaid boxes

Ephesus same as for Istanbul, above

Naples olive oil & olive-oil products, lemon products incl limoncello, inlaid wood boxes

Rome leather goods (particularly shoes and gloves), designer fashions, antiques, jewelry

THanks for your suggestions it is always nice to know what to look out for and to know the specialties of each location.:)

My suggestions are above. Don't expect to find a lot of bargains, but if you are looking for items that are "different" from what you can get in the US, this should give you some ideas....

Ephesus - Kusadasi?

Our port was actually Kusadasi, and we went to a village in the mountains called Sirince. We found silver jewelry with different gemstones at pretty reasonable prices. My friend bought a moonstone pendant in a silver mounting. I bought a jade pendant with marquisite in a silver mounting.

We were taken to a carpet factory, but those were beyond my means.

Santorini, Mykonos, Athens

There were olive oil soaps at most all of the stops in Italy & Greece

And lots of jewelry at all of the stops too, some good prices, some not.

Naples - Pompeii?

Cameo factory and lots of cameo jewelry in all the stores.

Inlaid wood boxes (jewelry, trinkets box)

Limoncello products

leather sandals

Rome - Murano glass articles (actually cheaper than in Venice)

And almost anything you are looking for.

Thank you for the advice on what to look for - if there is anyone else who has other suggestions I would appreciate it. Our cruise leaves May 4 and there is another that follows on the 15th all with the same ports.

Thanks again!!!
