paminohio Posted May 2, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2004 I've never been in a casino before, but just watched a show about Vegas' casinos and so now I'm looking forward to trying out my hand on the Voyager. Can anyone tell me what games they have (besides slot machines)? I assume blackjack and craps, but what else? Thanks! Pam until Voyager
PhoenixCruiser Posted May 2, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2004 I believe they have: Blackjack Slot Machines Video Poker Roulette Let It Ride Craps And I think I've read that some of them have Caribbean Stud Poker. I may be missing some...and some ships may not offer some games. An excellent book was suggested on this board several months ago, "American Mensa Guide to Casino Gambling" by Andrew Brisman. I got it from Amazon.com - good book! jean-lynd Posted May 4, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Pam, They will also have a class in the casino where you can learn how to play the table games. That may be a good time for you to practice. I love craps! It looks complicated but you can keep it simple if you want to. There are free games that you can play on the internet that also come with instructions or there are games that you can buy for your home computer. I hope this helps! winncove Posted May 9, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 9, 2004 Three Card on the Mariner? My fav. game! What do you mean by non regulated slots? The ship can set them any way they want..not RGN?
the_psycho Posted May 9, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 9, 2004 The games onboard cruise ships are not rigged in any way, but you need to be aware that they are not accountable to any of the state gaming boards like casinos here in the states. This means that they don't have to follow rules like minimum payout percentages for slots, and can choose to alter the rules for their table games for the best house edge. The games that they have, therefore, make more money for the line than games in a casino in Vegas, for example. If you want to practice, find a casino games program (like an old version of Hoyle Casino, thats what I use) that lets you set the rules, and then set it up like the rules on a ship. Just as a little free information, the best games to play in just about any casino are blackjack, craps, baccarat, and video poker. They all have a house egde under 1.5%, under normal rules. I've never analyzed cruise ship rules mathematically, but I know that their egde is higher than this. <color=#8b0000>until Serenade of the Seas Spring Break 2004!! paminohio Posted May 10, 2004 Author #13 Share Posted May 10, 2004 I've been studying blackjack. I'm going to memorize the chart and play according to it. I also read how to play craps and what are good bets and what are sucker bets. Not that I expect to win by reading these books, but I want to at least look like I know what I'm doing. I'll definitely take the classes - that sounds like fun! Bobbie: I'll certainly take you up on the offer!! I'm sure I'll need some guidance!!
