10 year old @ Los Veranos Zipline???

How many of you have taken a 10 year old on this tour? I think my son would like it. I'm just wondering if the anticipation/process of getting up to the platform makes it seem scarier than it is? Also, if he does chicken out, how would that work with the others (us)? Would one of us have to skip it as well?

I think he'll be fine, let me explain why-My daughter did it a few years ago, back when she was 8 yrs old. As I recall that first zipline wasn't really a "biggie" and not a situation here you climb step by step to some terrifying height as the tension builds, I think we were just hiking up a trail gaining most of the altitude for the first zipline platform. I can also tell you that our guides were so so fantastic with my daughter, we had an issue with the "biggie" zipline- it is very high up and over a water/gorge area, well my daughter is such a lightweight that her weight didn't give her the momentum she needed to zip all the way accross on the slight decline the ziplines have, instead she came to a complete stop hanging right over the middle of the gorge:eek: The guide quickly hooked up and zipped out to her, wrapped his legs around her, escorting her to the other side side where I was anxiously awaiting her arrival with a very fake smile on my face masking my near horror! She had little tears in her eyes, but was quite a trooper! The guides made her feel like the bravest kid on the planet! On the next line, I was pretty sure daughter would say "no way" (I would have) but she zipped with the guide riding tandem like he did when he "rescued" her, and I'll be darned if she didn't go it again solo the rest of the time after they boosted her confidence back up!

Long winded story I know, but if your son gets cold feet, the guides can be invaluable and could ride with your son a few times if need be. At no time was my daughter actually in danger, even though I found the sight of her dangling over that gorge terrifying, she could have passed out and still been completely safe as she was harnessed in and clipped on very securely.

-side note, I joke with my daughter to this day about that experience and tease her that I wish I too could have figured how to get stuck in the middle of a zipline, the guides were gorgeous, and I ask her if she did it on purpose:p

10 years old? ABSOLUTELY! He'll love it.

A little tip: wear bright colors, and your pictures will come out nicer. No camoflage type clothes.................you'll blend right in with the foliage. It happened to one of my group!
