Pier 91, Demystified

Okay, DH and I just got back from a jaunt to the Pier and I wanted to give my report. We parked and walked the area to get a good feel of where things are. We are going on a cruise this Firday (April 24th) and will report on the embarkation experience when we get back.

The directions that the port of Seattle gives worked great for us (listed below) You follow these if you are parking or just dropping folks off.

Right now there is not a sign up at the bottom of the ramp, but turn right. They have been working on the parking lot and it is looking great. There are signs for where to park, where to drop off luggage, how to get to the terminal to drop people off. They have 2~3 shuttle stations with bright yellow awnings. The lane markers and parking spaces are freshly painted.

The pier itself has a great wide thoroughfare to get traffic in and out.

Unfortunately, we decided that while the Seattle bus system has a few buses that stop right by the parking area, there is not real way to walk to the port from there, so we are taking a cab. Hopefully this will get better later.

And while I never look forward to the actual embarkation process, I'm feeling pretty good about things for our trip later this week.

More later...

But oh dear i fear you will upset a few people on this board by giving such a positive assessment;)

I, for one, am relieved by denisey's report! It was starting to sound like there was no good passenger drop-off -- just park-and-shuttle solution. My daughter will be dropping us off and picking us up, and it was very easy at the old pier.

We're still going to do a dry run before our departure date. :)

So far so good in the "guinea pig" department. Keep the info coming.

Glad to hear they've finally put some elbow grease to it in the past couple of weeks. Hopefully, they'll get it figured out in the first couple of weeks and it will go smoothly for the rest of the season.

Thanks Seattlecruiselover. I am going to be the most interested in your report after debarkation. I have all the time in the world to get on the ship but not so much getting off. Early flight home as we have all discussed at length.
