cmpaula Posted April 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2009 I have been reading all the advice about ATMs and currency exchange but I haven't been able to find out if you can exchange US dollars for Euros on board. Can anyone help?
Rare cruisemom42 Posted April 24, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2009 You can on most lines, not sure what NCL's policy is. (Might want to ask on the NCL board also.) Generally the exchange rate is lousy.
nparmelee Posted April 24, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 24, 2009 The only time we would do this is if we are somewhere for a one day stop that uses a different currency than the rest of our stops (Dubrovnik) and we only need a little bit of local currency. Otherwise we would find ATMs if we need more cash.
texancruzer Posted April 24, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 24, 2009 To answer your question...... we cashed travelers checks and then bought euros while on our Brilliance cruise. Didnt feel the exchange rate was that bad (the rate at that time was about $1.50 to 1 euro) Glad it has gone down a bit for our upcoming cruise :D Let me say that the convenience of using the pursers desk for this purpose far outweighted the slight charge - at least for us. And we used ATM's and just about all the other methods too ;)
