Hi we are new to cruising and off on our Honeymoon cruise on the summit. July 21st from Barcelona.

Just intrested in any tips people might have for us newbe's

Rather than ask specific questions just post the things that you think we might want to know... just think that will keep the discussion open and prob wider and more interesting!

Any tips on destinations? What is good on ship? What is bad? What are the shops like? Do we need to bring toiletrys with us or can we just buy them on the ship... saving weight? etc etc

There are SO many tips that you can pick up from CC.

Go to the "Boards" homepage and you will find tabs for "First Time Cruisers", "Money Saving Cruise Tips" "Ask a Cruise Question".

If you cruise those posts you will find more information than you can probably handle. It's quite possible that any question you might have has already been answered. If not, just ask it on one of those boards.

Congratulations on your Wedding!

Don't sweat the small stuff. Yes you can always get what you need in port including shampoo etc. There will be some in your room to use and if you don't like it, just pick it up on shore.

Don't pack too much! Leave some of those clothes home because you will be buying gifts for yourself and others in port clothes included.

Do speak to the crew every chance you get. Ask them about their families, their counties, home, ect. You will be so happy you did.

Do ask the crew how to say Thank You in their language and use it every time you speak to someone. The shock and smiles of gratitude are wonderful because passengers just don't think of doing that.

Have extra money for additional tips when you feel someone goes out of their way to make your stay comfortable. They really do need money and not gifts.

Again......Don't over pack or over worry. You will have the best time and memories to last a lifetime.

Enjoy!

One more thing!

Whatever you do.........Do try your best to attend SAIL AWAY! There is music, dancing, happy faces, it is the best time partying with strangers!

Everyone is having a blast! It is really fun to be on the top deck and seeing the small pleasure crafts that are escorting you. The will be a Coast Guard type boat circling the ship making sure the small boats don't get too close to the ship.

It is really fun to try and get the people in those small craft to wave back to you!

My advice to first time cruisers is come with a great and open attitude. Too many cruisers come with the attitude that they are going to "fight" everything on the ship. "They won't tell ME what time to eat!", "they won't tell ME how to dress", they won't tell ME where to smoke"! This attitude will ruin YOUR cruise and probably half the people around you. Go with the flow! Have fun! My DH and I think that Celebrity CL is the best, we love their food, their ships and their service, others do not feel that way. SO go with an open mind and make your OWN opinion.

I buy the little sample bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, then as we empty a bottle we throw it away and do not have to pack it for the return trip. Don't take too many clothes, use the ships laundry/dry cleaning service, they do a good job and it does not cost that much.

Congratulations on your wedding and have a GREAT honeymoon.:D:D

Pack a carry-on bag with the stuff you can't live with-out for a week. Include outfits appropriate for the dining room and a swim suit, and an out fit for the day. It is possible that you could be the rare person who's luggage doesn't make it to the ship, so perpare yourself by packing a bag that will get you buy if nothing else arrives.

Be sure to go to your cruise's Roll Call (see Roll Calls - Celebrity Connections) for more info. Don't know if you want to join a lot of other people on tours or such, but neat to find more info.

we love the Summit and the Celebrity M-Class. Be sure to try the T-Spa pool. It's like a large hot-tub with lots of flowing water and jets to stand under. On the side are steel pipes that form a 'lounge' seating with bubbles coming up through. Fantastic, and Free! Inside pool.

The other area we loved was the Cova Cafe. Nice coffees and spiked coffess - loved the Aspen!

You have picked a great way to do a first cruise. Barcelona is fantastic - be sure to just wander down the Embarcadero if you have a chance. Main street right near the port.

So much to say, but then again, you'll find your favorites. We have been married 20 years (coming up to an anniversary cruise!) and each cruise is a honeymoon! for us. You've picked a great way to set a great tone to start a great adventure.

Enough hyperbole!

Dear Denny -

I am so happy to read where you said "each cruise is a honeymoon for us!"

My DH and I "SO" feel that way and approach each cruise that way. I think that it is part of the reason that we enjoy the formal nights so much. DH orders corsages for me (and a boutonnière for himself) we drink champagne and enjoy the celebratory atmosphere of the evening so very much. I think it is because we approach every cruise with such a great attitude that we almost never come away with any complaints, except on our one and only, Royal Caribbean Cruise - service was TERRIBLE!

I hope that we sail with you sometime!
