On-Board Credit

Recommended Posts

With RCCL giving on-board credit for my Mariner sailing, are there any restictions on what you can use your on-board credit to purchase when you settle your sea pass account? For example, I always do the pre-paid gratuities. Can the on-board credit be used for the pre-paid tips?

Thank You

Actually you will have to wait to do the tips on board as pre-paid is before the cruise and the OBC is used for things ON the ship. You can use it for the tips you just need to wait to you are actually on board and the money can be used for anything on the ship.

O.K. I am new to cruising...only had a disney vacation as our "big" vacation..so I have lots of questions. For the on board credit is that per person per cabin and what does it cover? Does it cover alcohol or Johnny Rockets or excursions, etc? How do we get this? My travel agent, that we have just started getting quotes from, did not mention an on board credit option. Thanks for you help.

the person who started this thread got On Board Credit because his /her itinerary was changed due to the swine flu hysteria. Most people do NOT get OBC so don't count on it. It can be used for all purchases on board.

I'm pretty sure you can use it for just about anything but I have heard in the past that it isn't good for the Casino.

Fortunately, we don't gamble. :)

Unfortunately, we have always managed to spend more than our OBC.

I guess you could think of it as sort of a coupon - at the end of your cruise, they'll total up your charges and then take off the credit. You'll only owe whatever remains (if anything).

Also, if someone hasn't gotten a credit, it probably wouldn't hurt to ask your TA if anything is being offered. The worst he/she could say is no, but they just might find something for you.:)

Actually in my experience the OBC is there the second day or so and then it just subtracts from what you owe right then and there not waiting to the end. You can view your account on most ships right from the TV in your cabin.
