suse Posted May 7, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2009 I love reading this board because you guys are all veteran cruisers and sometimes you make me laugh out loud. Especially Pipedreams. My dilemma. We are going to Puerto Rico in a couple of weeks for my son's wedding:D and want to know a little bit more than what we read in books. Have any of you done some fun and interesting things that we shouldn't miss while we are there? We will be there for a week and I am really looking forward to it. Thanks very much for your help. sail7seas Posted May 7, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2009 Isla Verde is a lovely section of San Juan/Puerto Rico. There are some beautiful hotels there including El San Juan Resort and Casino, Intercontinental and The Ritz. It is about 20 minute cab ride to Old San Juan (but can be even longer depending upon time of day/traffic). Beautiful beaches and wonderful dining in the Isla Verde area. Sage Posted May 7, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2009 We lived in San Juan for two years, and Isle Verde is a beautiful tourist area. Each of the big hotels has casinos, and the beaches are gorgeous. You might try El Yunge for a nice rain forrest experience, and don't forget Plaza las Americas, their large mall, for a some great stores, and there is no tax on items purchased. Enjoy your time in Puerto Rico.
