Anyone just off Sea Princess that has good things to say?

Sigh ... I gather from the current "mutiny" thread that some people just had or are still having a very unhappy time on their cruise.

I have been waiting for everyone to get back, as we have booked the Barbados to Fort Lauderdale leg on the Sea Princess for next May.

I was hoping to be reading some great reviews right about now. So is there anyone out there who enjoyed anything about the trip regardless of the mechanical difficulties? The ship, the food, the entertainment, the fellow pax, the weather.............? :)

We just came off the Sea Princess last week after joining in Barbados on 18th April for 2 weeks. This was one of the best cruises we have enjoyed. Fanatastic itinerary, although not the best food we have had it was still very good. Stage shows were well presented especially piano man. Deck band Elements were outstanding and got a good crowd for every sailaway. Some excellent light entertainment in the wheelhouse bar, the girl in the duo"moonlight" had a tremendous voice. Had some good nights in Razzmatazz disco with dj stretch and even the captain sang on the karaoke one night. All the staff were fantastic and really looked after us. This was our 7th cruise and we enjoyed every minute. Ignore the people who complain as this happens on every cruise and just go out and enjoy the experience. We are seriously thinking about booking again for next year as we made many friends in the 2 weeks we were on board.

Thanks ... that sounds much more hopeful!

How did the boarding in Barbados go - do you know what the earliest time you could board was? And then could you get off again and go ashore since everyone that was already on was having a port day?

We want to stay a couple days ahead in Barbados so I am wondering how that last day will go. There's actually a ship's tour I might like to take (and I don't usually do that!) so I am wondering if it applies to us like a pre-cruise tour or it's only for people already on board.

This is the review we wrote and loved the entire cruise!!! Also go to cruise critic reviews and search Sea Princess Member reviews for the ship you want and there r lots of reviews.Enjoy!:)

Just back;sea princess-april 18-may02/09.

Arrival:

Flew first class from Montreal to Barbados for the first time.Great start.Arrived at 2.15 PM. on April 18 and Princess right there to pick us up and to cruise ship.Very fast and efficent.

Room:

Luggage was in our room in no time.Outside room with a balcony on Caribe deck smack in the middle of ship.I am 6'4' and shower was perfect size, bed with an egg crate was still a little hard, but just fine.Balcony nice size,2 chairs and a table.Being scared or heights,i felt like jumping a couple of times.Just a panic feeling, but rare.Lots of closets and the room steward...Marlon was nice and very efficient.

Ship:

A little worn, grouting missing around pool tiles and floor lifting in places...no biggie. They started renovation while on ship...changing Hall carpets on Caribe deck and elevators.

Only other thing was sitting and listening to so many Europeans whining and whining about tips.A pain in the butt.I guess that is all they had to talk about!!

Food:

Perfect, anytime dining and never had to wait more than a minute or two.Always a table for 2.

Last night Baked Alaska that does not go on in anytime dining,so Maitre"d sent us to Traditionl dining to see.Very nice of him.

All Staff:

The staff was the friendlies of any cruise i have been on.Everyone exceptionally happy and friendly!!!

Smoking:

Not much on this ship which was good, except in the Wheelhouse bar,so we stayed away.On Disembarkation we had to sit there and wait to leave ship and the smoking then was bad...the only time.

Entertainment:

Shows were pretty goog except for the Brittish accents. We could not understand any of the jokes at all,so stayed away from that, but most were enjoying it.

Casino had a couple of smoke free nights.

Loved the islands...12...tours were great, both with Princess and on our own!!

Only Bad part of trip was cruising from Mo Bay to Aruba...very high wind and 3 hours late arriving and even crew members were sick!

St.Lucia rained terrible part of day and River rafting in Jamaica it rained terrible...Only one to blame on that was the big guy in the sky!!

Thank God it was the dry season!!!

A perfect vacation. :):):) and became an Elite member on this trip,so we can pack lighter on next cruise now the laundry is free for us now!! Yippee!

Thanks, I appreciate it. I have searched, and actually read your's already .... I distinctly remember it because of the afraid of heights and jumping thing. ;)

I was just hoping for some additional new ones, specifically doing the Barbados trips. I believe I read she goes in for drydock before our trip too, so that will be nice.

I just found this thread while searching for the scheduled dry dock for Sea Princess. We too are booked on the May 1, 2010 Barbados to FL cruise. I was a little concerned about the bad comments. So happy to read the better reports and scheduled fall dry dock. Have not found a roll call yet for our cruise. Guess it is too early.

We met you on the NCL Star last Oct...My logon at that time was anarad, but I changed it to GophersMN to reflect more of where we're from(Minnesota)....I was looking at different cruise lines and came across your posts on Princess and said "Hey, I know that person" and since I couldn't figure out any other way to contact, I thought I'd post something and maybe you'd see it.....I read your review of NCL and the Star and agreed for the most part. At the time, NCL was the only company we'd been on. Last Feb(09), we were on RCL to the S.Caribbean. I liked RCL pretty much. Next Feb(10), we're going on Celebrity to S.Caribbean. We like the port intensive cruises.....DW gets somewhat board on sea days, especially if there's 2 in a row...I don't know if these boards have something like PM's or not.....

You will not be able to board before 01:00 pm and you can get off again. We boarded two times there and it was not possible to board earlier. Many people from Britain will arrive with late flights and many people from the cruise before are staying on the ship until they get their transfer to the airport.

Due to the ship will leave late, it is like having a port day after boarding.

We did already 6 cruises on her, our last was in November 2008 and we enjoyed it very much.
