Help for stuff to do in Nassau

We desided to do a last minute cruise on the Holiday leaving this Saturday. We've done this cruise before, but it went to Mexico. Because of the Swine Flu, this ship was rerouted to Nassau. All of the others are going back to Mexico, but this one is still headed for the Bahamas.

Problem is....we get there at 2:00 in the afternoon and leave at 2:00 a.m. the next morning. We don't even really get a full day.

Any advice on what to see or do? I know some of the stuff (like the Ardastra zoo) closes at 5:00.

Thanks in advance :)

Boy, having only been to nassau once, I'd head for the Atlantis, There is a time in the afternoon you can get in the pools and museum tour for free. Stay and enjoy a late afternoon as most cruisers have to be back on board by 4 or 5, Then head back to the pier and hit Sr Frogs for sun set. it is nice to watch ships leave the port. We were in until 8pm.

I'm not sure how long it has been since you were in Nassau... BUT you cannot get into the pools in the afternoon for "free"... they watch very closely for people not wearing bracelets of the day.

After around 6-7pm you can wander into the Aquarium without paying but not before.

I would suggest you see some sights downtown before they close the shops at 5ish, if you want to see Atlantis get a cab over after 7ish (have dinner onboard), see the "digs", lose a few dollars, wander about a bit, then go back to ship. Senor Frogs is fun but expensive and a bit hokey. It has gone downhill in the past few months.

Wrong.. once again..

There is security on the grounds until the pools are closed, which in the summer time is 7pm in the winter months it's 5pm.. POOLS ARE CLOSED. This means that noone can go into them without risking getting thrown out.

As for the museum.. there isn't one. If you mean the DIG'S aquarium, then yes, you can walk freely thru them after security leaves... which is the same time as the Pools close 7pm in the summer and 5pm in the winter. These are not "open to the public" just unguarded.

Just because some people sneak in and trespass.. doens't make it right.

Getting off the ship at 2pm is gonna be difficult. The ship may have some tours lined up.. but other than that.. you're out of luck with scheduled tours.

The walking historic tour is still easy to do at that time.. or you can do some shopping then take the jitney to the FISH Fry for some authentic bahamian food. (weekend nites there's music and locals partying).

If you not into a club at nite, the Marina Village at Atlantis has a local bank in the courtyard, plenty of shops to roam around.

There are two casinos.. one at Atlantis and one at the Crystal Palace at the Wyndham, cable beach.

Unless you are looking to drink yourself silly.. I'd pass on Senor Frogs.. plenty of places to have a drink and people watch.

Iguana's Cafe is one to look for. Overlooking Bay Street.
