Radiance Alaska SB formal nights

We have called Royal and they are unable to answer this question for the 9/4 SB cruise.

 

They told us our first formal night would be 9/5 but don't know when the second would be. One rep said on 9/8 (Icy Strait) as it is a 4 pm departure but another said the 6th night of our 7-day cruise

 

I have been on three other cruiselines and they never have formal the last night because of the packing issues and putting out your bags - just becomes too big a hassle for folks.

 

We are trying to get Chops and Portofino reservations for a group of 8 and we are not sure when to do them because we want to do only one formal night in the MDR.

 

Has anybody come back from an SB Alaska yet and know for sure???

There always seems to be some confusion on formal nights for some reason. Last year we had formal nights on Hubbard and Icy Strait. This year I was told Hubbard for the first formal night and could not get agreement for the second formal night. Seems the Captain can change formal nights. With that being said, we made our reservations for Chops for the first formal night (Hubbard) because that information is consistent with what we did last year. For the second formal night we will make the reservation as soon as we board the ship. Our cruise is May 29-June 5 (southbound itinerary - Radiance).
