Picnics at Totem Bight S.P.

Has anyone taken a picnic out to Totem Bight State Park? We are thinking of taking the bus and spending a couple of hours looking at the totems and poking around the beach. Are there picnic tables available or should we plan on sitting on a beached driftwood log on the beach? Is there a good place near the docks to pick up groceries and picnic supplies?

Is the beach stoney or does it have lots of tidal pools with star fish and other sea life to explore?

Just wondering what to expect.

Thanks,

N.

A great idea! We'll probably do a picnic there as well. I don't know the answers about tables and such but we often pack a lunch with items from the buffet. May be tacky or against the rules but we get the deli meat, bread, nuts, fruit, etc. We usually bring baggies and a really small cooler. We did this at all of the ports in Hawaii and it was fantastic. Didn't have to waste time finding a place to eat, waiting for service, etc.

This is totally against Ag and Customs regulations. There are fines for what you are doing.

IF you were on NCL in Hawaii on their US ship, then you were in compliance, but if not, Hawaii especially has big problems with non native wildlife/flora/fauna taking over.

There are signs posted at gangways prohibiting this in Alaska.
