Snorkeling from the beach?

I've enjoyed reading the reviews of Majahual and I think it'll be a great place to spend our day on the Costa Maya with our kids and grandkids. Is there anything to see if we snorkel from the beach in town? Is it possible to get a snorkel and/or dive trip from the beach? Any recommendations? We don't want to go on the ship's excursions because with 10 of us it would really add up!

If you are going to snorkel in the town I would recommend taking one of the tours as there is a lot of boat traffic in the area. You can book with Mayawal Tours or Lets go Snorkelling. Both operators do not work through the ships and have booths at the pier. The normal price is 20 USD per head. With ten of you you should be able to organise a discount on that. Maybe 5 USD a head less.

Thanks for the reply. Do either of those operators have a website or email? Will we need to make a reservation? Do you know if they will take children on board or will someone have to stay behind with the smaller kids?

They will accomdate you as they can. They do not have websites but run trips every 2 hours.
