SOOKIENY Posted May 25, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 25, 2009 Have sailed in NCL suites and love the perks that go with them. Does any other line have the same perks? Also, curious about other lines having a thermal spa like NCL's Gem and Pearl and if they do, what is the cost and what are the facilities like? Toto2Kansas Posted May 25, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2009 Here is the link to the perks for full suites on Princess. It includes most of what you will receive. They have added a few new perks not listed there, such as breakfast at Sabatinis restaurant only for full suite passengers. And on the new Rudy there is an Elite/Captain's circle cocktail party with appetizers and reduced drink prices for the drink of the day. http://www.princess.com/news/article.jsp?newsArticleId=na828&submit=pk
wrp96 Posted May 25, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 25, 2009 I'll answer about the thermal suites, I know that RCCL's Radiance class and Oasis of the Seas have thermal suites, as do all Celebrity ships. Some Princess ships have them. And HAL ships have them, also Disney. This list may not be inclusive but that should give you an idea. For great suite perks, in addition to NCL, look at Princess, HAL, and Celebrity. RCCL has some suite perks but nothing like NCL and suites and Carnival don't really get any perks at all. 2Cruise4Ever Posted May 25, 2009 #4 Share Posted May 25, 2009 Looks like Princess comes pretty close. The only thing they don't appear to have for full suite passengers is a butler and concierge (based on what I read of that article). But, there are things listed there that NCL does not have: free mini-bar (one time setup), complimentary use of the thermal spa, and the corsage on the first formal night. At least these things aren't available in the AB's or Owner Suites on NCL. The Garden Villa has these things, though. But, instead of a mini-bar, you get 3 bottles of liquor. SOOKIENY Posted May 26, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted May 26, 2009 Thanks one and all. Going to check it out and see if any of the other lines can give me reason to switch from NCL for my next cruise.
candydane Posted May 26, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 26, 2009 It's been awhile since I had an NCL suite. What are the current perks? Thanks.
2Cruise4Ever Posted May 26, 2009 #7 Share Posted May 26, 2009 On most ships, an AE penthouse through AB penthouse comes with a butler, concierge, VIP embarkation, priority tender tickets, priority disembarkation, pillow menu, robes, goodies delivered each evening, invite to VIP cocktail party with the Captain, advance restaurant reservations, embarkation escort to your cabin, bottle of wine or champagne (sparkling wine, really) upon embarkation, breakfast in a specialty restaurant, expanded butler's room-service menu, to name a few. The AA's get all of the above + reserved seating at the shows. The Courtyard Villas have their own unique set of perks, most of the above + access to the Courtyard Area, including a pool (and some other perks, too). And, the Garden Villas get all of the above, + 3 bottles of liquor and limo to/from the ship on embarkation and disembarkation day. Read more here: http://www.nclsuitesandvillas.com/ Unless they have changed perks recently, the AAs and also A2s (ships that have Courtyard) get 3 bottles of liquor; the GVs (A1) receive 6 bottles. The Courtyard Villas (A3 and A4) do not receive any bottles of liquor over and above the chilled bottle of bubbly that all full suites receive on boarding. The CVs have the option of having the Cagney's (or other, depending on ship) breakfast and lunch served in the Courtyard. The Courtyard butlers will also bring beverages, etc. to the Courtyard and set up a nice morning Continental spread in the Courtyard dining area. Under Freestyle 2.0, the sparkling wine has been changed (or was supposed to have been) to actual Champagne, but I'm not sure that happened. NCL has truly lovely perks for the full suites, IMO.:) beachchick
SOOKIENY Posted May 27, 2009 Author #9 Share Posted May 27, 2009 That's my dilema....love the NCL suite perks and can't seem to find any that compare,(except Princess) that would make me want to switch lines. Not to sound snobish, but anything longer than a week and I want a suite. Going back to RCC for the new Oasis in February, but in a balcony cabin. Booked mainly because the new ship looks incredible. We will see.
