Civitavecchia to Rome-enough time to make flt?

I would like to book a non-stop flight from Rome to Philadelphia after my Galaxy cruise next July. The ship begins to disembark at 8am. Has anyone made an 11:15am flight?

That would be tough, it is at least about a 45 min taxi ride from the port to the airport, I would advise against that early of flight.

We got a good price on Continental Airlines Newark to Rome non-stop RT $684 pp. The return flight is 10 a.m., and I figured we'd never make that. We've decided to stay overnight one night after the cruise so we aren't worrying about trying to rush to make a flight. I've heard the traffic in Rome can be terrible, and it's over an hour's drive to the airport anyway without traffic.

Traffic can be bad too...I agree, take a later flight. Why stress the whole trip away wondering if you're going to make your flight home? Maybe take that flight the next day? We stayed at the Sheraton (the one closest to the airport) one night post cruise and really enjoyed it. They even offer a shuttle into Rome if you want to see anything you've missed. That hotel had amazing bathrooms with huge marble soaking tubs and every emenity I have ever seen in a hotel (even razor with shave cream!). It is located on a golf course. We felt like it was a mini vacation!

Absolutely no way will you make that flight. I've done the Civit. to airport run a few times and it takes nearly an hour to get there, plus there's so much security at the Rome airport, that you need at least 2 hours for that. I stood in line for baggage check in for nearly an hour, then it to Customs and Immigration, then security, then what could be a long walk to the gate area. International airports want you on board no less than 20 minutes before departure, so your early flight just won't work.

Which sailing are you on? We are on the Galaxy r/t Citavecchia from 7/4 to 7/15. Our flight time is 12:10 to JFK and was told we had plenty of time.

We are on the 7/4 sailing, as well. Who did you speak to about the time of your flight? I have an email into Celebrity. A person I spoke to in the Air/Sea dept was not helpful as air and transfer times from the ship are not yet available.
