addicted to cruising Posted June 1, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2009 We rarely call home...did when out kids were small but usually only once. We carried an international calling card and would find a pay phone in port and call. We usually sail the Caribbean so its not to hard in ports like Nassau, St Thomas, Cozumel etc.
iancal Posted June 2, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2009 We usually buy a local long distance card. BEWARE...DO NO use those phones that are found at the dock that allow you to make long distance call on your credit card. They are a major rip off. hammers Posted June 4, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 4, 2009 It's a shame you didn't see my post below. I got 'mugged' at a card phone at St Lucia. I called the free phone number shown on my Nationwide credit card bill, after complaining bitterly to the 'customer services' operator I was given a refund on my credit card of just over £12. The refund was made on my next card statement. This was an expensive lesson........ http://cruiseforums.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=968631
