Pan Pacific Hotel-Vancouver-luggage question

We will be staying at the Pan Pacific for one night pre-cruise in September (Diamond Princess). I've read where you can take your own luggage to the ship via an elevator to a porter.

 

We were thinking of taking our "checked" luggage down ourselves and then going back up to our hotel room to get carry-ons and then go back to check-in, etc. We know that the hotel can take care of our luggage for us but we'd prefer doing it outselves.

 

Has anyone else done this?

You can do this and the hotel is adjacent to Canada Place but it will take more than a few minutes to make each trip. There is some distance involved.
