Wine package

Not that anyone has reported. This question comes up about once a week and the only package that anyone has reported is once in a while... where you buy 5 bottles and the 6th one is free. But that is only sometimes.

I have used the wine package several times on previous cruises, although it is not well publicized. You must save your wine bottle receipts and after purchasing 5 bottles, they will take an average and put that credit towards your sixth bottle. Bring the receipts with you at dinner when buying the 6th bottle. I have seen better packages on other cruise lines, but it is better than nothing.

On our 3 Majesty cruises, the offer was always available. Like cmh said, I don't think it's widely advertised. I know that doesn't help with the Spirit reference, but I'd bet there will be a package.

Just got off the Pearl. They offered a "buy 6 bottles and get a 20% discount" We got the least expensive (red & white) from the list and with the gratuity, it came to $161. We shared with another couple.

Wow.. I thought you were saying one bottle cost $161 after gratuity.. LOL

So that's not bad.. under $27 for each. I advise that if you're thinking of bringing on your own wine, it should cost more than $15 or $20 at the store to make it worth the savings.

Just finished cruising on the Jewel & their wine deal was buy 10-12 bottles of wine & receive 20% off. Deal was only valid for the first 1-2 days of the cruise.

DOES the NCL Spirit have a wine package deal?

Yes, I know that one ship does not necessarily offer the same pkg as another. Still, on the DAWN we purchased the following pkg:

1. select 6 bottles out of perhaps 20 offerings.

2. each bottle was separately priced, so that the total cost of my pkg would most likely be different from your pkg.

3. staying slightly below the mean price point, my pkg came to just about $250 (@$40/bottle).

Not a great deal, but not bad for restaurant prices.

That was a 12 day cruise though...wasn't it? If I buy 12 bottles on my cruise (alone with my daughter) I'll be hammered the whole time.... Not very safe :)

LAW5Guy, where did you find out about the package on the DAWN? Was it advertised in a daily or was there a special offer during checkin?

I've heard that you can bring "Boxed Wine" aboard as a carry on, and not have to pay the corkage fee.

Does anyone know if this is true or not?

Boxed wine has recently been a hot topic, because NCL has given TA's a memo saying "no boxed wine."

But people are getting them on.

You'll pay "something" if it's found. Some have paid the $15, some $30, some even more.

If it's found and they let you go w/o paying anything.. go straight to the casino cos it's your lucky day. :)

The wine pkg was offered at a table set up in the main lobby...between the Java Cafe and the customer service desk. It was available on Day 1 and Day 2 (pretty sure). I don't recall seeing it after that. I don't care for the flea market atmosphere in the main lobby of the DAWN, but I would say that Disney is far more aggressive in pushing its wine pkg than NCL was.

Where did you hear this?

No way in H E double L would this be true.

Do some people manage to get away with this? Sure! But not because NCL says it is okay.

I was exploring the NCL website a couple weekends ago, and round wine and combo wine/beer packages you can buy. For XX dollars for the entire cruise, you get all the wine, or one person gets wine & the other beer for the cruise. Has anyone else found this? I will have to look again, but I think I found the link from a post on these boards. Gave me the impression it was not limited to a number of glasses or bottles, but a straight amount for the cruise. I was more than I cared to pay based upon the amount I would drink, but I will look again and report back more detail when I find it.

I believe this is what you saw:

It's a great deal, but you have to book as a group, and everyone has to agree to buy the package.. kinda ridiculous if you ask me.. but they didn't.
