Trying guarantee on the Eurodam

We did the guarantee on the Eurodam doing the Baltic Cruise, starting Aug 1 because the only verandah cabins left were in awful parts of the ship (front end!)..We figured we can't do worse. We are on the lowest Verandah deck. Has anyone tried doing guarantee on the Eurodam and did they get an upgrade? We are return Holland America passengers, does that help in getting a better cabin? Thanks for any information you can give me about this.

Last year we did the Baltic-Trans/atlantic cruise that sailed on 08/04/08 on Eurodam. We booked a VF Guarantee and were upgraded to a VA. This was our 6th cruise on HAL and the 3rd cruise where we have recieved a free upgrade. No idea how or why we were so lucky.

Many people have done guaranteesn and have gotten great upgrades.

Others that I know who have sailed on HAL for over 300 days -- nothing.
