Craps Players Step Inside!

After my recent cruise, I am re-thinking my usual betting...Pass line/odds, two COME/odds bets. Way to many random throwers on cruise ships. Just when I get loaded up....out.

So, until I become a dark sider, which was very tempting last cruise, I'm back to Pass line/odds and numbers. At least on all those 7 come outs, I don't lose my numbers. Then I made some money.

Hey guys. Great thread. It looks like it has slowed down during the holiday season. I have just read the whole thing and Yo, you are ok in my book. I play on the right side but I would love to see how other half lives and watch you at work.

I do not get to play except when we are on a cruise so I don't really have a system. I guess I am going to try the pass line and 2 come line strategy and see how that works this time.

You guys are hillarious and I have seen a bunch of you in the Black Jack thread too.

Do the books on craps also cover the dark side? I have seen a LOT of cold tables on cruise ships and figure it may work to my advantage to learn how to make some money that way too!

Hey there! Glad you like the entertainment here. LOL!

Anyway, there are books about the dark side. But save your money. You can do an online search and find all sorts of information for free. :D

No, I was down until I changed my betting pattern. I left with some of their money.:) I also won at blackjack. They had $5 single deck but 6/5. Multideck was 3/2 at $6 min.

On the Independence of the Seas last week, the casino staff was very poor. Several times the box man pulled the dealers from the craps table because they couldn't make the payouts properly. They would really screw up dark side bets. At Let it Ride, my DW's favorite, the dealers repeatedly missed winning hand payouts. The players had to correct them often.

Next week I'm on Princess... I'll let you know if they changed their "greed index" as well.

Shalom, Andy.

Sounds like a trend here. That trend being that RCCL craps dealers suck. You already know about my gig over at the Liberty. What a bunch of clowns.

Ok YO...I have been trying out the dark side at wizard of Odds. I have a question. I think I would most likely just bet don't pass, and don't come. I am lousy at figuring the payouts. If I have a 5.00 min and 2x odds what would be my pay off when I win? Would I need to bet 6 on the dp line and dc line?

Wow! Someone I may be able to convert to the dark side. :D

Payouts on the dark side are actually simple. Most payouts are the exact opposite from playing right. In your example let's look at the payout from both sides.

If you place 5 dollars on the pass line and the point is 6, you can then take odds and place an additional 10 dollars behind your pass line bet.

Let's say the next roll is a six. You then would win even money on your pass line ($5.00) and will be paid 6:5 on your odds bet, which means you will get paid $12.00 on your odds bet.

Now-let's say you are playing dark now. You put $5.00 on the don't pass line. The next roll is a six so that is the point. Now you want to lay odds next to your don't pass bet. You then can lay $12. Let's say the next roll your friend the SEVEN comes out. You get paid even money on the don't pass line which is $5.00 and 5:6 on the odds bets (the opposite from when you play the pass line). Therefore your payout on your odds bet would be $10.00.

You never bet on a single number when you put money on the don't pass or don't come line. The roll of the dice will determine what number will be tied to your bet. That number is called the point and when it is established and you are playing the don't bets you want that seven to be rolled out before the point is rolled to win.

I hope this helps, and I hope I got it right. It is still early for me. LOL! :D

Oh and since 6 and 8 are the best odds on the right side of the table, do you bet odds on your dp bet if one of them is the point?

Most people won't. They will actually remove their bet from the don't pass line and wait for a decision to be made. I think that is a dumb move though in my opinion. The seven is still more likely to come out and the payout on the odds is higher if the seven is rolled before the 6 or the 8. If someone is too chicken to ride it out, then don't play the dark side. Bok bok bok bok!!!!! Cluck, Cluck, Cluck!

I laugh at those fools that pull off their 5 dollar bet because they are worried they are gonna lose it. Come on. Have some balls here! LOL!

Thanks for both answers. We cruise on the victory in January and I know that as cold as I have seen the tables on cruises, and for reasons listed by cruzincurt, I am REALLY leaning to betting dark.

Now be honest if you go in and a table is hot you don't ever bet right?????

No, I do not. I simply stop betting and watch. When the time is right I go back in. Plus, remember if someone has a very hot roll I am usually out of that decision because all my don't points were probably rolled anyway so I wait for the next shooter anyway. And chances are the next shooter isn't gonna roll 20 times in a row like the last guy. But in general, no I don't bet right, ever.

Ok..I was talking to a friend that is going with us and told him that I was thinking of betting dark and he was a little stressed out. He said that he always is looking to promote the positive energy on the table. I think I am throwing in with you...I would rather pay for my cruise!!!!

Hahaha. He will no longer be your friend. I love it. Dark siders are a clique and work together quietly. We are like the surfer boys in that movie point break. But we only rob the casino by playing the dark side, not as presidents. LOL

just remember as a dark side player you should stand in the corner of the table and try and remain very quiet when you win. The dark side can be a very lonely place

The advice is genuine but I don't follow it. I roll my own dice and try to roll my own seven. If the right bettors are being jerks about my playing there then I start to yell seven and when they roll one I celebrate. Screw 'em! :D

In other words, there is no need to be too shy when you are playing the dark side!!!!!!

That is what we talked about. I told him that I would pass the dice as has been mentioned and not jump up and down when they crap out.

I have been trying the dark side on wizard of odds and it seems that I don't do that much better either way. Is that because that is a total random generator? It sure seems like it goes on long rolls way more often than the odds would suggest.

Yo...Nick (The Greek) Dandolas was a super high roller who always played the DON'T....he died broke. The motto is Don't Pass bettors go just as broke as Do Pass bettors...the house is the only longterm winner. BTW FRONT LINE WINNER....BACK LINE SKINNER:)

All anecdotes aside, in the long run you have to LOOK AT THE MATH! The house edge (long run loss) is nearly equal for right and wrong bettors - slightly better for the dark siders, but in the fourth decimal place, roughly one in 2000.

The real difference is psychological: Right bettors win in dribs and drabs, one bet at a time, and lose big at one particular throw. Wrong betters lose in dribs and drabs, and win big at one time. Over time, it's all the same. Neither is any "better" or any "smarter". Choose whichever one suits your personality.

Andy...Amen...The house advantage against "don't pass" betters is on the BAR 12 (push) on the come out roll. Amazing how many times "the box-cars" show up.

IMO, the difference between the computer and real life is that some people are just lucky when throwing the dice, and some can set the dice and skew the randomness and expected long term odds. Neither is as random as the computer simulation.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO ajagent: There isn't that much difference between winning percentages on winning wether you play the Don't or the Pass Line. Same with the Come and Don't Come. The Don't players have a slight edge, but, it is insignificant.
